Anxiolytic and Memory Protective Effects of Withanolide D Isolated From Acnistus arborescens in Adult Zebrafish. [PDF]

open access: yesChem Biodivers
Withanolide D Exhibits Anxiolytic and Memory‐Protective Effects. ABSTRACT This study evaluated the anxiolytic and memory‐protective effects of withanolide D in adult zebrafish (Danio rerio). The compound was administered at doses of 4, 20, and 40 mg/kg and showed no signs of toxicity after 96 h of observation at any of the doses tested.

Deciphering Antidiabetic, Anti-Inflammatory, and Anti-Cholinergic Bioactivities of Withania somnifera (L) Dunal Root Extract: An In Vitro and In Silico Investigation. [PDF]

open access: yesChem Biodivers
In this investigation, Withania somnifera root ethanol extract displays anti‐inflammatory and antidiabetic properties. Though compounds including withasomniferolide B and sitoindoside IX have been previously identified as phytoconstituents in the plant, in silico analysis from this study revealed them as new lead compounds that could act as potential ...

Molecular characterization of three CYP450 genes reveals their role in withanolides formation and defense in Withania somnifera, the Indian Ginseng

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2022
The medicinal properties of Ashwagandha (Withania somnifera) are attributed to triterpenoid steroidal lactones, withanolides, which are proposed to be derived from phytosterol pathway, through the action of cytochrome P450 (CYP450) enzymes.

Withanolides and Related Steroids [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Since the isolation of the first withanolides in the mid-1960s, over 600 new members of this group of compounds have been described, with most from genera of the plant family Solanaceae. The basic structure of withaferin A, a C28 ergostane with a modified side chain forming a δ-lactone between carbons 22 and 26, was considered for many years the basic ...
