Transcription Factor FOSL1 Promotes Cisplatin Resistance in Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer Cells by Modulating the Wnt3a/β-Catenin Signaling through Upregulation of PLIN3 Expression

open access: yesFrontiers in Bioscience-Landmark
Background: Lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD) is the most prevalent histological subtype of lung cancer, accounting for 45.3% of all cases and serving as a major cause of cancer-related mortality.

Mechanism of inhibition of growth and metastasis of colon cancer by celecoxib analog OSU-03013 via wnt signaling pathway [PDF]

open access: yesActa Poloniae Pharmaceutica
OSU-03013 is a structurally modified analog of celecoxib. This study probed the antitumor activity of OSU-03013 on colon cancer (CC) and explored its possible mechanism.

From individual Wnt pathways towards a Wnt signalling network [PDF]

open access: yesPhilosophical Transactions of the Royal Society B: Biological Sciences, 2008
Wnt proteins play important roles during vertebrate and invertebrate development. They obviously have the ability to activate different intracellular signalling pathways. Based on the characteristic intracellular mediators used, these are commonly described as the Wnt/β-catenin, the Wnt/calcium and the Wnt/Jun N-terminal kinase pathways (also called ...

Effective therapeutic targeting of CTNNB1‐mutant hepatoblastoma with WNTinib

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
WNTinib, a Wnt/CTNNB1 inhibitor, was tested in hepatoblastoma (HB) experimental models. It delayed tumor growth and improved survival in CTNNB1‐mutant in vivo models. In organoids, WNTinib outperformed cisplatin and showed enhanced efficacy in combination therapy, supporting its potential as a targeted treatment for CTNNB1‐mutated HB.

WNT signaling regulates self-renewal and differentiation of prostate cancer cells with stem cell characteristics [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Prostate cancer cells with stem cell characteristics were identified in human prostate cancer cell lines by their ability to form from single cells self-renewing prostaspheres in non-adherent cultures.

LDAcoop: Integrating non‐linear population dynamics into the analysis of clonogenic growth in vitro

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Limiting dilution assays (LDAs) quantify clonogenic growth by seeding serial dilutions of cells and scoring wells for colony formation. The fraction of negative wells is plotted against cells seeded and analyzed using the non‐linear modeling of LDAcoop.

Spatially resolved RNA-sequencing of the embryonic heart identifies a role for Wnt/β-catenin signaling in autonomic control of heart rate

open access: yeseLife, 2018
Development of specialized cells and structures in the heart is regulated by spatially -restricted molecular pathways. Disruptions in these pathways can cause severe congenital cardiac malformations or functional defects.

Aberrant Polycystin-1 Expression Results in Modification of Activator Protein-1 Activity, whereas Wnt Signaling Remains Unaffected [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
Polycystin-1, the polycystic kidney disease 1 gene product, has been implicated in several signaling complexes that are known to regulate essential cellular functions. We investigated the role of polycystin-1 in Wnt signaling and activator protein-1 (

Targeting p38α in cancer: challenges, opportunities, and emerging strategies

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
p38α normally regulates cellular stress responses and homeostasis and suppresses malignant transformation. In cancer, however, p38α is co‐opted to drive context‐dependent proliferation and dissemination. p38α also supports key functions in cells of the tumor microenvironment, including fibroblasts, myeloid cells, and T lymphocytes.

Hematopoietic stem cells, overview and pathways implied on their self-renewal mechanisms [PDF]

open access: yesRevista Ciencias de la Salud, 2007
Blood tissue is composed approximately in45% by cells and its derivatives, with a life spanof around 120 days for erythrocytes and 3 yearsfor certain type of lymphocytes.
