Structural Mechanism of an Efficacy Photoswitch Targeting the β2‐adrenergic Receptor
Time‐resolved structures from x‐ray free‐electron laser measurements combined with cellular assays demonstrate how the photoswitchable β‐blocker photoazolol‐1 acts as an efficacy switch of β2‐adrenergic receptor function. Light‐induced ligand repositioning shifts activity from inverse agonism toward neutral antagonism by altering local helical ...

Wave-packet propagation based calculation of above-threshold ionization in the x-ray regime
We investigate the multi-photon process of above-threshold ionization for the light elements hydrogen, carbon, nitrogen and oxygen in the hard x-ray regime.

RADDOSE-XFEL: femtosecond time-resolved dose estimates for macromolecular XFEL experiments
For macromolecular structure determination at synchrotron sources, radiation damage remains a major limiting factor. Estimation of the absorbed dose (J kg−1) during data collection at these sources by programs such as RADDOSE‐3D has allowed direct comparison of radiation damage between experiments carried out with different samples and beam parameters.

European XFEL construction status
The European XFEL is presently being constructed inthe Hamburg region, Germany. It aims at producing X-raysin the range from 260 eV up to 24 keV out of three undulatorsthat can be operated simultaneously with up to27000 pulses/second. The FEL is driven by a 17.5 GeVlinear accelerator based on TESLA-type superconductingaccelerator modules.

Damage before destruction? X-ray-induced changes in single-pulse serial femtosecond crystallography
Serial femtosecond crystallography (SFX) exploits extremely brief X-ray free-electron laser pulses to obtain diffraction data before destruction of the crystal.

Femtosecond X-rays illuminate disordered states during the early stages of crystallization
Crystallization is a fundamental non-equilibrium process in materials science, yet its early transient states remain difficult to probe experimentally. Möller et al. [(2025). IUCrJ 12, 462–471] use femtosecond X-ray scattering and X-ray cross-correlation
