The use of edible insects in human food

open access: yesJournal of the Science of Food and Agriculture, Volume 106, Issue 10, Page 5775-5787, 15 August 2026.
Abstract The world population is expected to reach approximately 10 billion people by 2050, which will significantly increase global food demand and may lead to agricultural shortages and a higher risk of food insecurity. In this context, this review discusses the potential of insects as alternative sources of animal protein, addressing their ...

The Endocrine Disrupting Compounds Bisphenol‐A and α‐Zeranol Mimic the Estrogen Transcriptional Program to Promote Proliferation and Stemness in Breast Cancer Cells

open access: yesMolecular Carcinogenesis, Volume 65, Issue 8, Page 907-920, August 2026.
ABSTRACT Excessive activation of the estrogen receptor (ER) drives proliferation, progression, and the formation of breast cancer stem cells (CSCs) in ER‐positive breast cancer. Estrogenic endocrine disrupting compounds (EDCs) found in plastics, water, and food are also able to bind to the ER.

Mycotoxins‐contaminated wheat matrices bioconversion by Tenebrio molitor larvae (Coleoptera: Tenebrionidae)

open access: yesInsect Science, Volume 33, Issue 4, Page 1691-1705, August 2026.
Larval development time, ADG, survival rate and substrate consumption were not negatively affected by the levels of mycotoxins contamination Larvae excreted most of the ingested DON and its derivatives through exuviae and frass The mycotoxin accumulation rates observed in larvae were always below the current legal limits for livestock feed Abstract ...

Evaluation of disease resistance in intermediate wheatgrass and genome‐wide association for fusarium head blight‐related traits

open access: yesCrop Science, Volume 66, Issue 4, July/August 2026.
Abstract Intermediate wheatgrass (IWG) [Thinopyrum intermedium (Host) Barkworth & D. R. Dewey] is a promising perennial grain candidate that The Land Institute has been directly domesticating since 2001. Grain from improved IWG can be sold under the trademark Kernza.

Engineered Metal–Organic Frameworks‐Based Materials for Environmental Detection

open access: yesENERGY &ENVIRONMENTAL MATERIALS, Volume 9, Issue 4, July 2026.
Engineered metal–organic frameworks (MOFs) regulated by various material modification strategies are discussed for environmental contaminant detection under different sensing mechanisms, providing future improvements of MOFs in environmental detection. Sensitive and selective detection of contaminants is crucial for environmental protection.

Occurrence of Toxigenic Fusarium spp. and Zearalenone in Scabby Rice Grains and Healthy Ones

open access: yesResearch in Plant Disease, 2018
We analyzed rice sample with scab (collected in 2017) for fungal occurrence and found that frequency of Fusarium spp. was the highest among fungal genera. Within Fusarium, Fusarium asiaticum-nivalenol type dominated as 79%.

Theoretical Study and Experimental Validation on the Application of Core‐Shell Structured Cocoamidopropyl Betaine Functionalized MIL‐101(Cr)@Fe3O4 for Efficient AFB1 and ZEN Adsorption

open access: yesFood Frontiers, Volume 7, Issue 4, July 2026.
A rapid and sensitive method for simultaneous adsorption and determination of AFB1 and ZEN in corn and wheat was developed by CAB‐MMOF‐based MSPE coupled with HPLC‐FD. ABSTRACT In this study, a novel core‐shell structured cocoamidopropyl betaine‐functionalized magnetic metal‐organic framework (CAB‐MMOF) was designed and synthesized through post ...
