Introduction: Zearalenone-14-glucoside (Z14G) is a modified mycotoxin that widely contaminates food across the world. Our preliminary experiment showed that Z14G degrades to zearalenone (ZEN) in the intestine exerting toxicity.

Deglucosylation of zearalenone-14-glucoside in animals and human liver leads to underestimation of exposure to zearalenone in humans [PDF]
Zearalenone-14-glucoside (ZEN-14G), the modified mycotoxin of zearalenone (ZEN), has attracted considerable attention due to its high potential to be hydrolyzed into ZEN, which would exert toxicity.

Data for Meta-analysis of Adverse Health Effects of Zearalenone (ZEN) in Cereal Growing Communities in Africa [PDF]
The exposures of humans to mycotoxins resulting in adverse health outcomes as carcinogenicity, neurotoxicity and endocrine disreputability warrant their monitoring in food systems.

Engineered Metal–Organic Frameworks‐Based Materials for Environmental Detection
Engineered metal–organic frameworks (MOFs) regulated by various material modification strategies are discussed for environmental contaminant detection under different sensing mechanisms, providing future improvements of MOFs in environmental detection. Sensitive and selective detection of contaminants is crucial for environmental protection.

Knowledge about the extent of nutrient variability in local barley germplasm is an important prerequisite for efficient crop improvement. The present study is one of the first to assess the potential of Tunisian barley populations (named Testour, Gergis, and Enfidha) as sources of desirable traits for barley improvement and for the prevalence of ...

A rapid and sensitive method for simultaneous adsorption and determination of AFB1 and ZEN in corn and wheat was developed by CAB‐MMOF‐based MSPE coupled with HPLC‐FD. ABSTRACT In this study, a novel core‐shell structured cocoamidopropyl betaine‐functionalized magnetic metal‐organic framework (CAB‐MMOF) was designed and synthesized through post ...

Co‐Detoxification of Multiple Mycotoxins: Microbial and Enzymatic Biodegradation Processes
The presence of mycotoxins poses a threat to food safety. This article reviews microbial/enzymatic detoxification technologies and the main degradation pathways of key mycotoxins. We propose to overcome current bottlenecks through enzyme engineering and synthetic biology, providing a roadmap for sustainable and scalable solutions.

Genotoxic evaluation for the estrogenic mycotoxin zearalenone [PDF]
Genotoxic effects of the mycotoxin Zearalenone (ZEN) were evaluated on albino mice. The investigation was assessed using 4 criteria: chromosome aberrations in bone marrow and spermatocytes of adult male mice; chromosome analysis and teratological ...

Food Safety and Nutritional Aspects of Plant‐Based Dairy and Meat Alternatives: A Review
Plant‐based dairy and meat alternatives (PBDA and PBMA) offer sustainability benefits but also introduce chemical and microbiological hazards to the diet. Key concerns include emerging mycotoxins, heavy metals, process contaminants, and heat‐resistant spore‐forming bacteria.
