Transgenerational toxicity of Zearalenone in pigs [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Zearalenone (ZEN) is a mycotoxin that can be a contaminant of food and feed commodities. ZEN acts as a xenoestrogen and is considered an endocrine disruptor.

Effective Zearalenone Degradation in Model Solutions and Infected Wheat Grain Using a Novel Heterologous Lactonohydrolase Secreted by Recombinant Penicillium canescens

open access: yesToxins, 2020
This paper reports the first results on obtaining an enzyme preparation that might be promising for the simultaneous decontamination of plant feeds contaminated with a polyketide fusariotoxin, zearalenone (ZEN), and enhancing the availability of their ...

Microfluidics-Based Time-Resolved Fluorescence Immunoassay for the On-Site Detection of Aflatoxins B1 Zearalenone and Deoxynivalenol in Cereals

open access: yesFoods, 2022
The primary pollutants in cereal products are aflatoxins B1 (AFB1), zearalenone (ZEN), and deoxynivalenol (DON). In this study, anti-AFB1 MAb (4C9), anti-ZEN MAb (2A3), and anti-DON MAb (1F10) were developed and used in time-resolved fluorescence ...

FgCot1 Regulates Polarized Growth and Conidiation in Fusarium graminearum via Gpmk1 MAPK and Tsf1 Transcriptional Pathways

open access: yesMolecular Plant Pathology, Volume 27, Issue 7, July 2026.
FgCot1 is a nuclear Dbf2‐related kinase in Fusarium graminearum. It inhibits activation of the Gpmk1 MAPK pathway and interacts with transcription factor Tsf1 to regulate its nuclear localization. FgCot1 integrates Gpmk1 signalling and Tsf1‐dependent transcriptional regulation to govern polarized growth and conidiation in F. graminearum.

In vitro phase I metabolism of cis-zearalenone [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
The present study investigates the in vitro phase I metabolism of cis-zearalenone (cis-ZEN) in rat liver microsomes and human liver microsomes. cis-ZEN is an often ignored isomer of the trans-configured Fusarium mycotoxin zearalenone (trans-ZEN).

Morphological and Multilocus Phylogenetic Characterisation of Fusarium Species Causing Fruit Rot in Pumpkins

open access: yesPlant Pathology, Volume 75, Issue 4, July‐August 2026.
Eight Fusarium species are associated with the pumpkin rot in north‐east Brazil. ABSTRACT Pumpkin (Cucurbita) is a cucurbit of great economic and social importance in Brazil. However, fruit rot caused by Fusarium species represents a significant limitation to crop production, compromising quality and hindering commercialisation.

The occurrence of the selected Fusarium mycotoxins in Czech malting barley, harvested in 2012-2017

open access: yesCzech Journal of Food Sciences, 2019
In 2012-2017, the occurrence of deoxynivalenol, zearalenone and T-2 toxin in 592 samples of malting barley from different regions of the Czech Republic was studied using the ELISA immunochemical method.

Scientific opinion on animal exposure to zearalenone in feed materials and compound feed in the Republic of Croatia

open access: yesFood Risk Assess Europe, Volume 4, Issue 3, July 2026.
ABSTRACT The Croatian Agency for Agriculture and Food (HAPIH), through the work of the Centre for Food Safety in preparing scientific opinions on risks in food and feed, provides scientific and technical support to the authorities responsible for food and feed safety in making informed risk‐management decisions.

Occurrence of Zearalenone and Its Metabolites in the Blood of High-Yielding Dairy Cows at Selected Collection Sites in Various Disease States

open access: yesToxins, 2021
Zearalenone (ZEN) and its metabolites, alpha-zearalenol (α-ZEL) and beta-zearalenol (β-ZEL), are ubiquitous in plant materials used as feed components in dairy cattle diets.
