Production of Zirconium-89 by photonuclear reactions

Nuclear Instruments and Methods in Physics Research Section B: Beam Interactions with Materials and Atoms, 2020
Abstract The study provides an alternative method of producing the medically interesting 89Zr isotope by using 55 MeV bremsstrahlung irradiation of natural niobium and natural molybdenum samples. The yields of the natNb((γ,4n)+(γ,p3n))89Nb−89Zr, 92Mo((γ,3n)+(γ,p2n))89Nb−89Zr and 94Mo(γ,αn) 89Zr reactions were obtained as a result of the research.
