Investigation of A1g phonons in YBa2Cu3O7 by means of LAPW atomic-force calculations

open access: yes, 1997
We report first-principles frozen-phonon calculations for the determination of the force-free geometry and the dynamical matrix of the five Raman-active A1g modes in YBa2Cu3O7.

Gut Microbiota‐Derived Anandamide Mediates the Therapeutic Effects of Urolithin A on Alcohol‐Induced Cognitive and Social Dysfunction via CB1R‐DRD2‐RAP1 Signaling Axis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study reveals that Urolithin A (UA) counteracts alcohol‐induced cognitive and social dysfunction (AICSD) via a gut microbiome‐dependent mechanism. UA‐enriched Bacteroids sartorii and Parabacteroids distasonis elevate anandamide (AEA), which activates the CB1R‐DRD2‐Rap1 signaling cascade to drive synaptic repair and reduce neuroinflammation ...

Localization and expression of zonula occludins-1 in the rabbit corneal epithelium following exposure to benzalkonium chloride. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2012
Preservatives are a major component of the ophthalmic preparations in multi-dose bottles. The purpose of this study was to investigate the acute effect of benzalkonium chloride (BAC), a common preservative used in ophthalmic preparations, on the ...

Covers of the projective line and the moduli space of quadratic differentials [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Consider the 1-dimensional Hurwitz space parameterizing covers of P^1 branched at four points. We study its intersection with divisor classes on the moduli space of curves. As an application, we calculate the slope of the Teichmuller curve parameterizing

Inulin‐Based Oral Chemotherapy Modulates Gut Microbiota and Immune Microenvironment through Inhibition of Neutrophil Extracellular Trap Formation for Improving Cancer Therapy

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Schematic representation of ZIF‐8@OXA@inulin for cancer immunotherapy. Synthesis of ZIF‐8@OXA@inulin. Augmentation of pyroptosis, regulation of gut microbiota, and inhibition of NETs formation by ZIF‐8@OXA@inulin‐mediated comprehensive strategy for antitumor immune response. ABSTRACT Despite the potential of chemoimmunotherapy against colorectal cancer

Conformable Microelectrode Arrays Integrated with a Scoop‐Shaped Slide‐Well for Dynamic Electrophysiological Profiling of Patient‐Derived Cardiac Organoids

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A flexible, ultrathin multi‐channel microelectrode array (MEA) conformally integrated onto a curved slide‐well enables stable electrical interfacing with 3D cardiac organoids. The geometry‐guided self‐alignment allows simultaneous recording of extracellular field potentials and contractile motion from irregular, beating tissues.

Outer membrane vesicles and soluble factors released by probiotic Escherichia coli Nissle 1917 and commensal ECOR63 enhance barrier function by regulating expression of tight junction proteins in intestinal epithelial cells

open access: yesFrontiers in Microbiology, 2016
The gastrointestinal epithelial layer forms a physical and biochemical barrier that maintains the segregation between host and intestinal microbiota. The integrity of this barrier is critical in maintaining homeostasis in the body and its dysfunction is ...

Effects of dietary Bacillus cereus, B. subtilis, Paracoccus marcusii, and Lactobacillus plantarum supplementation on the growth, immune response, antioxidant capacity, and intestinal health of juvenile grass carp (Ctenopharyngodon idellus)

open access: yesAquaculture Reports, 2020
This study was aimed to evaluate the effects of dietary supplementation of probiotics Bacillus cereus (BC), B. subtilis (BS), Paracoccus marcusii (PM), and Lactobacillus plantarum (LP) on growth, immune response, antioxidant property, and intestine ...

Higher integrability for doubly nonlinear parabolic systems

open access: yes, 2018
This paper proves a local higher integrability result for the spatial gradient of weak solutions to doubly nonlinear parabolic systems. The new feature of the argument is that the intrinsic geometry involves the solution as well as its spatial gradient ...

CRP Deficiency Rescues Periodontitis‐Induced Hippocampal Neurogenesis Impairment by Suppressing OPC‐Derived BMP4 Signaling in Rats

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Chronic periodontitis elevates circulating CRP, which enters the hippocampus to upregulate BMP4 in oligodendrocyte precursor cells (OPCs), thereby impairing neurogenesis and inducing anxiety/depression‐like behaviors in rats. Counteracting this pathway, CRP deficiency helps confer functional resilience to OPCs.
