Zonula occludens‐1 ZU5 domain contributes essential stabilizing interactions at the tight junction

The FASEB Journal, 2016
Zonula occludens (ZO‐1) is a cytoplasmic scaffold protein that structurally and functionally tethers cytoskeletal components and membrane proteins at the tight junction. Interestingly, ZO‐1 has a poorly characterized ZU5 domain at the carboxy‐terminus that ZO‐2 and ZO‐3 proteins lack.

Effect of hepatocyte growth factor on assembly of zonula occludens-1 protein at the plasma membrane

Journal of Cellular Physiology, 1998
Hepatocyte growth factor (HGF) is a paracrine cytokine that influences epithelial morphogenesis by modulating cell-cell adhesion and cell polarity. We have examined the role of HGF in the tight junction (TJ) formation. We followed the assembly and disassembly at the plasma membrane of the major component of the TJ, zonula occludens-1 (ZO-1) protein ...

Nicotinamide dual treatment enhances morula-to-blastocyst transition through binding to Zonula Occludens-1 protein

Theriogenology
Nicotinamide (NAM) is a widely utilized compound in cell culture systems, yet its role during the morula-to-blastocyst transition remains underexplored. This study investigates the effects of NAM supplementation during both in vitro maturation (IVM) of oocytes and late-stage embryo culture (IVC3; the morula stage) on blastocyst development, metabolic ...
