Redox‐Dependent Chaperoning of GBF1 Condensates Regulates Seed Germination in Arabidopsis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
In dormant seeds (low ROS), GBF1 forms liquid condensates to repress the germination gene CathB3, and the chaperone GIP1 maintains condensate liquidity and repressive activity. Upon imbibition (high ROS), ROS oxidize GIP1 during germination, impairing its chaperone function.

Synthesis of a New Substrate for Detection of lacZ Gene Expression in Live Drosophila Embryos

open access: yesBioTechniques, 1996
Escherichia coli lacZ, which encodes β-galactosidase, has become a widely used reporter gene to study the developmental regulation of gene expression in a variety of organisms.

Senolytic Therapy as a Preventive Strategy for Spine Degeneration and Pain

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Cellular senescence promotes inflammation, tissue degeneration, and chronic back pain. In sparc‐null mice, early oral administration of the senolytic agents o‐vanillin and RG‐7112 reduced senescent cell burden and pro‐inflammatory SASP signaling across intervertebral discs, endplates, vertebral bone, and spinal cord.

Cigarette Smoke‐Induced Alveolar Macrophage Senescence via GEM/SIRT3‐Mediated Mitochondrial Dysfunction

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Cigarette smoke accelerates the aging of immune cells in the lung. By combining human single‐cell sequencing, cell culture, and mouse models, the authors show that the protein GEM drives mitochondrial damage and senescence in alveolar macrophages by suppressing SIRT3.

A novel β-galactosidase from Arthrobacter sulfonivorans: purification, characterization and gene cloning

open access: yesThe EuroBiotech Journal, 2017
Process schemes yielding β-galactosidase of different purity grade were designed, the enzyme properties were determined. It was the first isolation and investigation of the gene encoding Arthrobacter sulfonivorans extracellular β-galactosidase.

Perspectives and applications of immobilised β-galactosidase in food industry - a review

open access: yesCzech Journal of Food Sciences, 2008
β-Galactosidase is an important industrial enzyme in the hydrolysis of milk and whey lactose. The enzymatic hydrolysis of lactose allows to avoid health and environmental problems posed by this disaccharide.

Bioadhesive Hydrogel With Polyphenol‐Armored Nanogene Rejuvenates Chondrocyte Senescence for Aged Osteoarthritis Therapy

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
An adhesive hydrogel depot with polyphenol‐armored nanogenes is developed for treating aged osteoarthritis. This system maintains miR‐140 bioactivity, prolongs its intra‐articular retention, and enhances transfection into chondrocytes, leading to the downregulation of senescence‐associated pathways.
