The HSV-1 Latency-Associated Transcript Functions to Repress Latent Phase Lytic Gene Expression and Suppress Virus Reactivation from Latently Infected Neurons [PDF]
open access articleHerpes simplex virus 1 (HSV-1) establishes life-long latent infection within sensory neurons, during which viral lytic gene expression is silenced.

Ethylene‐activated MdEAEL1 mediates the disassembly of the MdZFP3‐MdTPL4‐MdHDA19 transcriptional repression complex, upregulating the histone acetylation levels in the promoter regions of cell wall degradation‐related genes, consequently promoting softening during storage.

Biodistribution and inflammatory profiles of novel penton and hexon double-mutant serotype 5 adenoviruses [PDF]
The use of adenovirus serotype 5 (Ad5) vectors in the clinical setting is severely hampered by the profound liver tropism observed after intravascular delivery coupled with the pronounced inflammatory and innate immune response elicited by these vectors.

Facet joint osteoarthritis (FJOA), prevalent in the elderly, involves Talin2 upregulation promoting ECM degradation while suppressing synthesis. Mechanical load stabilizes Talin2 via OTUB1‐mediated non‐canonical deubiquitination, driving CCL2 expression that recruits immune cells, exacerbating inflammatory joint degeneration.

Delta multicopy integration for improved β-galactosidase production in recombinant Saccharomyces cerevisiae [PDF]
The β-galactosidase industrial production is hampered by the high costs associated with its production and purification. One way to improve the overall productivity of galactosidase β-galactosidase fermentation system would be to use continuous high-cell-

Regulation of dissimilatory sulfur oxidation in the purple sulfur bacterium Allochromatium vinosum [PDF]
In the purple sulfur bacterium Allochromatium vinosum, thiosulfate oxidation is strictly dependent on the presence of three periplasmic Sox proteins encoded by the soxBXAK and soxYZ genes.

Low copy number vectors for expression of fused genes to β-galactosidase inEscherichia coli [PDF]
A series of six expression vectors, pXM184Lac.A, B, C, pXM184Z.A, B, C, based on the low copy plasmid pACYC184 that allow for expression of proteins fused to beta-galactosidase in Escherichia coli is described. A level of 50,000 units of beta-galactosidase is routinely observed and is easily identifiable on protein gels.

The FGF13 level is significantly downregulated in premature aging murine hearts subject to D‐galactose and Doxorubicin. FGF13 overexpression and deficiency exacerbated and alleviated Doxorubicin/D‐galactose‐induced myocardial aging characteristics and functional impairment, respectively.

A rapid permeabilization procedure for accurate quantitative determination of β-galactosidase activity in yeast cells [PDF]
A procedure is described which allows the rapid permeabilization of yeast cells, Schizosaccharomyces pombe and Saccharomyces cerevisiae, for quantitative in situ assays of beta-galactosidase activity. Yeast cells are permeabilized by incubation in buffer containing 0.2% of the detergent sodium lauroyl sarcosinate without any need for washing or ...

This study develops enucleated MSC‐derived microvesicles (Mito@euMVs) to deliver functional mitochondria for optimizing wound repair. By efficiently encapsulating mitochondria, Mito@euMVs rejuvenate hyperglycemia‐induced senescent fibroblasts and HUVECs. Using PVA microneedle patches, the therapeutic efficacy of Mito@euMVs is validated in diabetic rats
