A Novel β-lactam/β-lactamase Inhibitor: Ceftolozane/tazobactam
Ceftolozane/tazobactam is a novel generation cephalosporin and β-lactamase inhibitor combination antibiotic. It was approved for the treatment of adults (18 years and older) with complicated intraabdominal infections used in combination with ...

Broad spectrum of β-lactamase coverage and potent antimicrobial activity of xeruborbactam in combination with meropenem against carbapenemase-producing Enterobacterales, including strains resistant to new β-lactam/β-lactamase inhibitor combinations. [PDF]
Xeruborbactam is a broad-spectrum boronate-type β-lactamase inhibitor. We aimed to evaluate its activity in combination with meropenem and compare it with other β-lactam/β-lactamase inhibitor combinations against Enterobacterales.

Antibacterial Activity of Heteropolytungstates Against Proteus mirabilis
We investigated the in vitro antibacterial activity of several heteropolytungstates against P. mirabilis, a drug‐resistant pathogen. All tested polyanions inhibited bacterial growth, with the Preyssler–Pope–Jeannin polyanion P5W30 exhibiting the highest activity (MIC = 0.78 mg/mL).

Bacterial resistance is a serious threat to human health. The production of β-lactamase, which inactivates β-lactams is most common cause of resistance to the β-lactam antibiotics.

Dual RNase and β-lactamase Activity of a Single Enzyme Encoded in Archaea
β-lactam antibiotics have a well-known activity which disturbs the bacterial cell wall biosynthesis and may be cleaved by β-lactamases. However, these drugs are not active on archaea microorganisms, which are naturally resistant because of the lack of β ...

Vaginal host–microbe signatures linked to placental outcomes in mares
Abstract Background Ascending placentitis is a leading cause of late‐term pregnancy loss in mares. Although pathogens are presumed to ascend from the caudal reproductive tract, the association between the vaginal microbiome and placentitis has not been systematically examined.
