Up-take of thyronines and 3-iodothyronamine in liver cells

open access: yes, 2012
Objectives: 3,5-diiodothyronine (T2) and 3-iodothyronamine (T1AM) are thyroid hormone derivatives which have been shown to produce significant biological effects. Some of these effects appear to involve the interaction with specific intracellular targets. In the present work we investigated whether T2 and T1AM are taken up by hepatocytes.

Determination of 3-iodothyronamine (3-T1AM) in mouse liver using liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry.

open access: yes, 2023
3-iodothyronamine (3-T1AM) has been suggested as a novel chemical messenger and potent trace amine-associated receptor 1 ligand in the CNS that occurs naturally as endogenous metabolite of the thyroid hormones.

The Possible Role of 3-lodothyronamine in Browning of Inguinal White Adipose Tissue in Mice

open access: yesEndocrinology Research and Practice, 2017
Purpose: In this study, we have investigated whether administration of a chronic low dose of 3-iodothyronamine (T1AM) could regulate the concentration of uncoupling protein 1 (UCP1) in mice inguinal white adipose tissue (IWAT).

Modulation of cardiac calcium homeostasis by 3-iodothyronamine

open access: yes, 2009
3-iodothyronamine (T1AM) is a thyroid hormone derivative which binds to a new class of plasma membrane receptors known as trace amine-associated receptors. We have shown that in isolated rat hearts and in adult rat cardiomyocytes T1AM produces a negative inotropic effect, with IC50 on the order of 20 microM.

Delivery of Thyronamines (TAMs) to the Brain: A Preliminary Study

open access: yesMolecules, 2021
Recent reports highlighted the significant neuroprotective effects of thyronamines (TAMs), a class of endogenous thyroid hormone derivatives. In particular, 3-iodothyronamine (T1AM) has been shown to play a pleiotropic role in neurodegeneration by ...

The 3-iodothyronamine (T1AM) and the 3-iodothyroacetic acid (TA1) indicate a novel connection with the histamine system for neuroprotection

open access: yes, 2021
The 3-iodothyronamine (T1AM) and 3-iodothryoacetic acid (TA1), are endogenous occurring compounds structurally related with thyroid hormones (THs, the pro-hormone T4 and the active hormone T3) initially proposed as possible mediators of the rapid effects

Dopamine synthesis and dopamine receptor expression are disturbed in recurrent miscarriages

open access: yesEndocrine Connections, 2018
Objectives: l-dopa decarboxylase (DDC) is responsible for the synthesis of dopamine. Dopamine, which binds to the D2-dopamine receptor (D2R), plays an important role in the maintenance of pregnancy.

Unveiling the nongenomic actions of thyroid hormones in adult mammalian brain: The legacy of Mary B. Dratman

open access: yesFrontiers in Endocrinology, 2023
A comprehensive review was conducted to compile the contributions of Mary B. Dratman and studies by other researchers in the field of nongenomic actions of thyroid hormones in adult mammalian brain.

Biosynthesis of 3-Iodothyronamine From T4 in Murine Intestinal Tissue [PDF]

open access: yesEndocrinology, 2015
The endogenous metabolite 3-iodothyronamine (3-T1AM) induces strong hypothermia and bradycardia at pharmacological doses. Although its biosynthesis from thyroid hormone precursors appears likely, the sequence and sites of reactions are still controversial: studies in T4-substituted thyroid cancer patients lacking functional thyroid tissue suggested ...
