Structure of the Human 4-Hydroxyphenylpyruvic Acid Dioxygenase Gene (HPD)

open access: yesGenomics, 1994
4-Hydroxyphenylpyruvic acid dioxygenase (HPD) is an important enzyme in tyrosine catabolism in most organisms. The activity of this enzyme is expressed mainly in the liver and developmentally regulated in mammals, and a genetic deficiency in this enzyme in humans and mice leads to hereditary tyrosinemia type 3.

Herbicide toxicity to Nitrospirillum amazonense: assessing bacterial survival and microbial functionality

open access: yesPest Management Science, Volume 82, Issue 2, Page 1842-1852, February 2026.
Herbicides elicit a spectrum of responses in Nitrospirillum amazonense, ranging from the stimulation of metabolic functions (biological nitrogen fixation, IAA production) to significant growth inhibition and acute toxicity. Abstract BACKGROUND Herbicides can exert significant toxicity on nontarget organisms, including plant growth‐promoting bacteria ...

Therapeutic Monitoring of Patients With Hereditary Tyrosinemia Type 1—A Belgian Monocentric Experience

open access: yesJIMD Reports, Volume 67, Issue 1, January 2026.
ABSTRACT Hereditary tyrosinemia type I (HT‐1) is a rare metabolic disorder treated by NTBC, requiring careful therapeutic and nutritional monitoring. While follow‐up traditionally relies on urinary succinylacetone, plasma NTBC and plasma amino acids, dried blood spot (DBS) methods have introduced alternative monitoring options.

Vitiligo, alkaptonuria, and nitisinone—A report of three families and review of the literature

open access: yesJIMD Reports, 2021
Four patients, from three families, with alkaptonuria receiving 4‐hydroxyphenylpyruvate dioxygenase‐inhibiting nitisinone therapy, which lowers homogentisic acid and increases tyrosine, developed vitiligo.

Assessment of genetically modified soybean GMB151 × DAS‐44406‐6 (application GMFF‐2024‐21774, EFSA‐Q‐2024‐00330)

open access: yesEFSA Journal, Volume 24, Issue 1, January 2026.
Abstract Genetically modified soybean GMB151 × DAS‐44406‐6 was developed by crossing to combine two single events: GMB151 and DAS‐44406‐6. The two‐event stack soybean expresses the Cry14Ab‐1, HPPD‐4, PAT, AAD‐12 and 2mEPSPS proteins to confer herbicide tolerance and resistance to plant parasitic nematodes.

A Case of Tyrosinemia Type III with Status Epilepticus and Mental Retardation

open access: yesAdvanced Biomedical Research, 2018
Tyrosinemia type III is an autosomal recessive disorder caused by the deficiency of 4- hydroxyphenylpyruvate dioxygenase (4-HPPD). It is characterized by elevated levels of blood tyrosine and massive excretion of its derivatives into the urine.

Multifaceted Study of Medicago marina Essential Oil: Chemical Composition, Antidiabetic, and Phytotoxic Insights via In Vitro and In Silico Approaches

open access: yesChemistry &Biodiversity, Volume 22, Issue 12, December 2025.
ABSTRACT The essential oil of Medicago marina was subjected to analysis at vegetative and reproductive stages of development, with a particular emphasis on its chemical composition, α‐amylase inhibition, and allelopathic activities. The results of the gas chromatography and molecular docking studies demonstrated alterations in oil yield and composition

Linking herbicide cross‐tolerance to agronomic and seed vigor traits: A multi‐trait genome‐wide association study in snap bean (Phaseolus vulgaris L.)

open access: yesCrop Science, Volume 65, Issue 6, November/December 2025.
Abstract In snap bean (Phaseolus vulgaris L.) production, herbicides are essential for weed control, requiring crop tolerance to avoid injury. The study aimed to link genomic loci to agronomic traits, explore the extent of herbicide cross‐tolerance, and identify loci influencing seed vigor and herbicide tolerance traits. A panel was evaluated for seven

Tautomerism, Conformational Analysis, and Intramolecular Interactions in Triketone–Chalcogenazole Hybrids

open access: yesJournal of Physical Organic Chemistry, Volume 38, Issue 11, November 2025.
Triketone herbicides inhibit HPPD via induced fit influenced by noncovalent interactions. Using DFT‐B3LYP and NBO analysis, this study examined hydrogen and chalcogen bonds in tautomer stabilization. Results showed enolic forms with stronger intramolecular interactions, while heavier atoms like sulfur and selenium uniquely facilitated chalcogen bonds ...
