A metabolite attenuates neuroinflammation, synaptic loss and cognitive deficits induced by chronic infection of Toxoplasma gondii

open access: yesFrontiers in Immunology, 2022
BackgroundNeurodegenerative diseases including AD is currently one of intractable problems globally due to the insufficiency of intervention strategies. Long-term infection of Toxoplasma gondii (T.

Acod1 is important in the regulation of Lyme carditis in vivo.

open access: yes, 2023
A) Two weeks post infection hearts from NJ WT and Acod1-/- mice were sectioned and stained with H&E and scored blindly by a pathology for inflammation using a scale of 0–10. Nine mice from two independent experiments were analyzed with Mann-Whitney Test.

Neutrophils resist ferroptosis and promote breast cancer metastasis through aconitate decarboxylase 1 [PDF]

open access: yes, 2023
Metastasis causes breast cancer-related mortality. Tumor-infiltrating neutrophils (TINs) inflict immunosuppression and promote metastasis. Therapeutic debilitation of TINs may enhance immunotherapy, yet it remains a challenge to identify therapeutic ...

Screening of Differentially Expressed Genes in Rat Synovitis by Transcriptome Sequencing and in Vitro Verification of Therapeutic Target of Fraxetin

open access: yesShiyan dongwu yu bijiao yixue, 2023
ObjectiveUsing transcriptome sequencing to screen the differentially expressed genes between the synovial tissue of rats with knee osteoarthritis (KOA) induced by monosodium iodoacetate (MIA) and that of normal rats, and then screen the target of ...

The Cancer Cell Metabolic Reprogramming Remodels the Tumor Microenvironment: Molecular Mechanisms and Therapeutic Strategies

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This review elucidates how cancer cell metabolic reprogramming—across glucose, lipid, amino acid, and nucleotide pathways—remodels the tumor microenvironment to suppress anti‐tumor immunity and promote immune escape. Targeting these metabolic axes offers promising strategies to overcome immunotherapy resistance and enhance cancer treatment.

Acod1 gene expression is correlated to Brucella control in the lungs.

open access: yes, 2021
(A) Wild-type and Acod1-/- C57BL/6 mice were intranasally infected with 107 CFU of wild-type B. melitensis 16M or B. abortus 2308, as indicated. At 2-, 5-, 9- and 28-days post-infection, lungs and spleen were harvested and CFU were counted.

CD14 Plays a Critical Role in Pain and Inflammation Across Multiple Models of Post‐traumatic Osteoarthritis

open access: yesArthritis &Rheumatology, EarlyView.
Objective We employed global genetic deletion of CD14 and intra‐articular CD14 blockade across multiple murine osteoarthritis (OA) models that vary in severity of pathology and rate of progression to test the hypothesis that CD14 inhibition attenuates synovial inflammation and associated pain during disease progression.

Modulation of the Acod1/itaconate pathway differentially affects atherosclerosis severity across genetic models and sexes. [PDF]

open access: yes
peer reviewedItaconate is a macrophage-derived metabolite central to immunometabolism (1, 2). Its role, including 4-octyl-itaconate (4-OI), has sparked interest in atherosclerosis because of its known inflammatory characteristics. Song et al.

Acod1 is dispensable for Bone marrow derived macrophages control of Brucella infection.

open access: yes, 2021
Bone marrow derived macrophages from wild type and Acod1-/- C57BL/6 mice were infected with B. melitensis or B. abortus at an MOI of 50:1, as indicated in Materials and Methods.

Differences among human myeloid cells in ACOD1 mRNA induction during IAV infection.

open access: yes, 2022
Cells were infected with the indicated IAV strains (MOI = 1) and gene expression determined at the time points post infection (p.i.) indicated on the x-axes. A.
