Epigenetic age acceleration, neonatal morbidities, and neurobehavioral profiles in infants born very preterm

open access: yesEpigenetics, 2023
Epigenetic age acceleration is a risk factor for chronic diseases of ageing and may reflect aspects of biological ageing. However, few studies have examined epigenetic ageing during the early neonatal period in preterm infants, who are at heightened risk

DNA methylation-based age prediction and telomere length in white blood cells and cumulus cells of infertile women with normal or poor response to ovarian stimulation. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
An algorithm assessing the methylation levels of 353 informative CpG sites in the human genome permits accurate prediction of the chronologic age of a subject.

Evolution of High-Energy Particle Distribution in Mature Shell-Type Supernova Remnants

open access: yes, 2016
Multi-wavelength observations of mature supernova remnants (SNRs), especially with recent advances in gamma-ray astronomy, make it possible to constrain energy distribution of energetic particles within these remnants.

Accelerated epigenetic aging in Werner syndrome. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Individuals suffering from Werner syndrome (WS) exhibit many clinical signs of accelerated aging. While the underlying constitutional mutation leads to accelerated rates of DNA damage, it is not yet known whether WS is also associated with an increased ...

Obesity accelerates cardiovascular ageing

open access: yesEuropean Heart Journal
Abstract A global obesity pandemic, coupled with an increasingly ageing population, is exacerbating the burden of cardiovascular disease. Indeed, clinical and experimental evidence underscores a potential connection between obesity and ageing in the pathogenesis of various cardiovascular disorders. This is further supported by the notion

The ubiquitin ligase RNF115 is required for the clearance of damaged lysosomes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Upon lysosomal rupture, an E3 ubiquitin ligase RNF115 translocates from the cytosol to the damaged lysosomal membrane. Moreover, RNF115 depletion impairs the clearance of damaged lysosomes, identifying it as a key regulator of lysosomal quality control.

Gamma-ray production in young open clusters: Berk 87, Cyg OB2 and Westerlund 2

open access: yes, 2007
Young open clusters are likely sites of cosmic ray acceleration as indicated by recent detections of the TeV gamma-ray sources in the directions of two open clusters (Cyg OB2 and Westerlund 2) and their directional proximity to some unidentified EGRET ...

Constraints On the Diffusive Shock Acceleration From the Nonthermal X-ray Thin Shells In SN1006 NE Rim [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
Characteristic scale lengths of nonthermal X-rays from the SN1006 NE rim, which are observed by Chandra, are interpreted in the context of the diffusive shock acceleration on the assumption that the observed spatial profile of nonthermal X-rays ...

Cytomegalovirus infection accelerates epigenetic aging

open access: yesExperimental Gerontology, 2015
Epigenetic mechanisms such as DNA methylation (DNAm) have a central role in the regulation of gene expression and thereby in cellular differentiation and tissue homeostasis. It has recently been shown that aging is associated with profound changes in DNAm. Several of these methylation changes take place in a clock-like fashion, i.e.

Infrared laser sampling of low volumes combined with shotgun lipidomics reveals lipid markers in palatine tonsil carcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Nanosecond infrared laser (NIRL) low‐volume sampling combined with shotgun lipidomics uncovers distinct lipidome alterations in oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma (OPSCC) of the palatine tonsil. Several lipid species consistently differentiate tumor from healthy tissue, highlighting their potential as diagnostic markers.
