Protozoan ALKBH8 oxygenases display both DNA repair and tRNA modification activities.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2014
The ALKBH family of Fe(II) and 2-oxoglutarate dependent oxygenases comprises enzymes that display sequence homology to AlkB from E. coli, a DNA repair enzyme that uses an oxidative mechanism to dealkylate methyl and etheno adducts on the nucleobases ...

Association of genetic variants in m1A modification core genes and neuroblastoma risk

open access: yesBMC Cancer
Neuroblastoma tightly linked with genetic abnormality. The core genes responsible for RNA N1-methyladenosine (m1A) modification are critical in tumor development. Nevertheless, few reports revealed the function of m1A modification core gene polymorphisms

Mendelian Randomization Analysis of Mitochondria‐Related Genes and Screening of Prognostic Genes in Colorectal Cancer

open access: yesCancer Medicine, Volume 14, Issue 13, July 2025.
ABSTRACT Background Mitochondria have been linked with inflammatory colorectal cancer (CRC) development; however, the association between mitochondria‐related genes (MRGs) and CRC remains unknown. Aims To explore the causal relationship between MRGs and CRC, screen prognostic genes, conduct drug prediction analyses, and investigate the correlations ...

ALKBH3‐Mediated M1A Demethylation of METTL3 Endows Pathological Fibrosis:Interplay Between M1A and M6A RNA Methylation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 12, Issue 19, May 22, 2025.
RNA modification is crucial in fibrosis diseases, but the role of m1A modification remains elusive. This study reveals that ALKBH3, an m1A demethylase, drives skin fibrosis by reshaping m6A RNA modification and stabilizing COL1A1 and FN1 mRNAs through METTL3, uncovering a crosstalk between m1A and m6A methylation in pathological events.
