Association Between Chikungunya Infection and Rheumatoid Arthritis in Taiwan—A Cross‐Sectional Study

open access: yesInternational Journal of Rheumatic Diseases, Volume 29, Issue 8, August 2026.
ABSTRACT Objectives Chikungunya virus (CHIKV) infection might cause chronic chikungunya arthritis resembling rheumatoid arthritis (RA). The purpose of this study is to investigate the potential role of this virus in the pathogenesis of RA in Taiwan, a non‐endemic area. Methods This cross‐sectional study enrolled 98 RA patients and 200 healthy controls.

Neutrophil Extracellular Traps Exacerbate UVB‐Induced Photodamage in HaCaT Cells and Mouse Skin via CCDC25/MAPK Pathway

open access: yesAging Cell, Volume 25, Issue 8, August 2026.
Neutrophil extracellular traps (NETs) play a pivotal role in UVB‐induced skin photodamage. Mechanistically, NETs bind to the CCDC25 receptor on keratinocytes and subsequently activate the intracellular p‐JNK/JNK signaling pathway, thereby exacerbating skin photodamage.

Age‐Associated B Cells: Origins, Regulation, and Tissue‐Specific Pathogenic Contributions in Autoimmune, Metabolic, and Neurological Diseases

open access: yesImmunological Reviews, Volume 341, Issue 1, August 2026.
ABSTRACT Age‐associated B cells (ABCs) are a distinct B cell population characterized by coexpression of T‐bet and CD11c. First described in aged female mice and autoimmune‐prone strains, ABCs are now recognized to be associated with multiple human autoimmune diseases, including systemic lupus erythematosus, rheumatoid arthritis, and multiple sclerosis,

Anti‐Modified Protein Antibodies in Rheumatoid Arthritis: Pathogenic, Protective, or Passive Bystander?

open access: yesImmunological Reviews, Volume 341, Issue 1, August 2026.
ABSTRACT The presence of anti‐modified protein antibodies (AMPA) is a hallmark of rheumatoid arthritis (RA). AMPA recognize post‐translationally modified proteins and are cross‐reactive. AMPA include anti‐citrullinated protein antibodies (ACPA), anti‐carbamylated protein antibodies (anti‐CarP), and anti‐acetylated protein antibodies (AAPA).

Beyond Sequence: Posttranslational Remodeling of Antigens in Autoimmunity

open access: yesImmunological Reviews, Volume 341, Issue 1, August 2026.
ABSTRACT Autoimmune responses are often attributed to failed tolerance to self‐proteins, yet protein expression alone cannot explain why certain antigens dominate disease, why autoreactivity emerges under stress, or why specific HLA alleles shape risk.
