Synthesis, biological evaluation, and SAR study of novel pyrazole analogues as inhibitors of Mycobacterium tuberculosis: Part 2. Synthesis of rigid pyrazolones [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Two series of novel rigid pyrazolone derivatives were synthesized and evaluated as inhibitors of Mycobacterium tuberculosis (MTB), the causative agent of tuberculosis. Two of these compounds showed a high activity against MTB (MIC = 4 μg/mL).

Design, synthesis and antimycobacterial evaluation of some new azaheterocycles with the 4,7-phenanthroline skeleton. Part VI [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of the Serbian Chemical Society, 2016
A feasible study concerning the synthesis, structure and in vitro antimycobacterial evaluation of new 4,7-phenanthroline derivatives is reported. The preparation is straight and efficient, involving an N-alkylation reaction of 4,7-phenanthroline.

Nitrobenzoates and Nitrothiobenzoates with Activity against M. tuberculosis

open access: yesMicroorganisms, 2023
Esters of weak acids have shown improved antimycobacterial activity over the corresponding free acids and nitro benzoates in particular have previously shown to have a very intriguing activity. To expand the potential of nitro-derivatives of benzoic acid

Acetone leaf extracts of some South African trees with high activity against Escherichia coli also have good antimycobacterial activity and selectivity index

open access: yesBMC Complementary and Alternative Medicine, 2017
Background Tuberculosis is a world-wide problem affecting humans and animals. There is increasing development of resistance of the pathogens to current antimycobacterial agents. Many authors have investigated activities of extracts and isolated compounds

In vitro and intracellular antimycobacterial activity of a Bacillus pumilus strain [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Despite the declaration of tuberculosis (TB) as a global emergency by the world health organization (WHO) about 20 years ago, the worldwide problem of this disease has worsened due to increased drug resistance of tuberculosis bacilli and acquired ...

Antimycobacterial activity of lichen substances

open access: yesPhytomedicine, 2010
We describe here the extraction and identification of several classes of phenolic compounds from the lichens Parmotrema dilatatum (Vain.) Hale, Parmotrema tinctorum (Nyl.) Hale, Pseudoparmelia sphaerospora (Nyl.) Hale and Usnea subcavata (Motyka) and determined their anti-tubercular activity.

Isolation and identification of Bacillus strains with antimycobacterial activity [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Tuberculosis is the principal cause of death worldwide due to an infectious disease. The resurgence of tuberculosis, followed by the increase in prevalence of infections caused by nontuberculous mycobacteria (NTM), as well as the multi-drug resistance ...
