ABSTRACT Immune homeostasis is indispensable for preserving organismal integrity, orchestrated through complex molecular networks encompassing immune cell dynamics, microbial cues, and epigenetic regulation. Among these, the gut microbiota‐non‐coding RNA (ncRNA) axis has recently garnered substantial attention as a multifaceted modulator of host ...

CD23 Mediates Antimycobacterial Activity of Human Macrophages [PDF]
ABSTRACTEngagement of surface receptors contributes to the antimicrobial activity of human immune cells. We show here that infection of human monocyte-derived macrophages (MDM) with liveMycobacterium aviuminduced the expression of CD23 on their membrane.

Cutaneous non‐tuberculous mycobacterial infections: A retrospective study of 94 cases from Germany
Summary Background Cutaneous non‐tuberculous mycobacterial infections (NTM) remain a diagnostic and therapeutic challenge. The aim of this study was to characterize cutaneous NTM infections in Germany over a 24‐year‐period. Patients and Methods 73 patients with cutaneous NTM infections diagnosed at 17 different German University Hospitals from 2000 ...

In Vitro Antimycobacterial Activities of Capuramycin Analogues [PDF]
ABSTRACT Translocase I inhibitor compounds derived from capuramycin demonstrated rapid bactericidal activity against several different mycobacterial species. SQ641 was the most active of the compounds, with a MIC of 0.12 to 8 μg/ml, a postantibiotic effect of 55 h, and interesting synergistic effects with other antitubercular drugs.

Lung organoids as a human system for Mycobacteria infection modeling and drug testing
Mycobacterial infections, including tuberculosis (TB) and infections by nontuberculous mycobacteria (NTM), are still public health issues. In 2023, TB caused 1.25 million deaths, while NTM remain a clinical challenge for patients with cystic fibrosis (CF).

Structural Simplification of Bedaquiline: the Discovery of 3-(4-(N,N-dimethylaminomethyl)phenyl)quinoline Derived Antitubercular Lead Compounds [PDF]
Bedaquiline (BDQ) is a novel and highly potent last-line antituberculosis drug that was approved by the US FDA in 2013. Owing to its stereo-structural complexity, chemical synthesis and compound optimization are rather difficult and expensive. This study

Antimycobacterial Activity of Some Turkish Plants
In this study, 70% ethanol extracts from 98 different plant species distributed among 21 families were evaluated for antimycobacterial activity. Sempervirine was isolated from Buxus sempervirens with a minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) of 6.25 µg/ml.
