Potential Risk Factors for Total Anomalous Pulmonary Venous Return: National Birth Defects Prevention Study, 1997–2011 and the Birth Defects Study to Evaluate Pregnancy Exposures, 2014–2021

open access: yesBirth Defects Research, Volume 118, Issue 5, May 2026.
ABSTRACT Background Total anomalous pulmonary venous return (TAPVR) is a rare heart defect in which the pulmonary veins do not connect to the left atrium, instead draining into the right atrium or directly into other venous systems. We explored factors associated with TAPVR using the National Birth Defects Prevention Study (NBDPS; 1997–2011) and Birth ...

Ferroptotic neurodegeneration and diet: a narrative review

open access: yesAlzheimer's &Dementia, Volume 22, Issue 4, April 2026.
Dietary regimes and separate components have been reported to reduce ferroptosis by (1) altering iron metabolism, (2) increasing antioxidant defense, and (3) reducing lipid peroxidation. This ultimately leads to reduced ferroptosis and neurodegeneration.

Testing Hypotheses of Covariate Effects on Topics of Discourse

open access: yesStatistical Analysis and Data Mining: An ASA Data Science Journal, Volume 19, Issue 2, April 2026.
ABSTRACT We introduce an approach to topic modeling with document‐level covariates that remains tractable in the face of large text corpora. This is achieved by de‐emphasizing the role of parameter estimation in an underlying probabilistic model, assuming instead that the data come from a fixed but unknown distribution whose statistical functionals are

Properties of Apricot Kernel and Oils as Fruit Juice Processing Waste

open access: yesFood and Nutrition Sciences, 2010
Recently, more attention has been focused on the utilization of food processing by products and wastes, as well as under-utilization agricultural products. Some physical and chemical properties, mineral contents and fatty acid composition of apricot kernel and oils were determined. The oil yields from kernels changed from 42.2% to 57.2%.
