Thrombospondin‐4 is upregulated in abdominal aortic aneurysm: A vasoprotective response with potential therapeutic relevance

open access: yesBritish Journal of Pharmacology, EarlyView.
TSP4 is upregulated in human and experimental AAA. TSP4 knockdown accelerated AAA formation and exacerbated both vascular inflammation and remodelling, emphasizing that TSP4 upregulation may represent a protective response against AAA. Our findings suggest that preserving TSP4 could be a useful strategy in the clinical management of AAA.

Glucosamine-induced endoplasmic reticulum stress affects GLUT4 expression via activating transcription factor 6 in rat and human skeletal muscle cells [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
AIMS/HYPOTHESIS: Glucosamine, generated during hyperglycaemia, causes insulin resistance in different cells. Here we sought to evaluate the possible role of endoplasmic reticulum (ER) stress in the induction of insulin resistance by glucosamine in ...

Roles of ER Membrane Protein Complex in Protein Biogenesis and Quality Control in the Lung and Beyond

open access: yesCell Proliferation, EarlyView.
The endoplasmic reticulum membrane protein complex (EMC) is an evolutionarily conserved, multi‐subunit transmembrane protein complex crucial to membrane protein biogenesis and cellular protein quality control. This review systematically examines the structure, functions and disease‐associated regulatory mechanisms of EMC across multiple organ systems ...

MIF promotes Th17 cell differentiation in rheumatoid arthritis through ATF6 signal pathway

open access: yesMolecular Medicine
Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a common autoimmune disease that can lead to irreversible joint damage when it occurs, but its pathogenesis has not yet been elucidated.

Mapping and characterization of the amplicon near APOA2 in 1q23 in human sarcomas by FISH and array CGH [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
Background Amplification of the q21-q23 region on chromosome 1 is frequently found in sarcomas and a variety of other solid tumours. Previous analyses of sarcomas have indicated the presence of at least two separate amplicons within this ...

CKAP4 Regulates ERS‐Induced Apoptosis in Osteoclasts Through FOXO3 in Periodontitis

open access: yesCell Proliferation, EarlyView.
CKAP4 promotes the transcription of PERK via FOXO3 in OCs, thereby facilitating ER stress‐induced apoptosis. In periodontitis, the reduction of CKAP4 in OCs leads to decreased OC apoptosis, which exacerbates alveolar bone resorption. ABSTRACT Periodontitis is a prevalent oral disease characterised by chronic inflammation and irreversible alveolar bone ...

Mutations in unfolded protein response regulator ATF6 cause hearing and vision loss syndrome

open access: yesThe Journal of Clinical Investigation
Activating transcription factor 6 (ATF6) is a key regulator of the unfolded protein response (UPR) and is important for ER function and protein homeostasis in metazoan cells.

Reaction to Endoplasmic Reticulum Stress via ATF6 in Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis Deteriorates With Aging

open access: yesFrontiers in Aging Neuroscience, 2019
Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a multisystemic neurodegenerative disorder. Given that peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs) serve as a “window to the central nervous system” we aimed to answer whether endoplasmic reticulum (ER) stress in ALS-

Interferon-gamma inducible protein 10 (IP10) induced cisplatin resistance of HCC after liver transplantation through ER stress signaling pathway. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Tumor recurrence remains an obstacle after liver surgery, especially in living donor liver transplantation (LDLT) for patients with hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC).
