Rhenium‐Based β‐Galactosidase Probe Allows Senescence Profiling by Mass Cytometry

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
Senescence‐associated β‐galactosidase (SA‐β‐Gal) activity is a widely accepted biomarker of cellular senescence, yet its integration with other senescence markers has been limited by available detection methods. Here, we introduce ReGal, a mass cytometry‐compatible SA‐β‐Gal activity probe that can be multiplexed with established markers of senescence ...

Mitochondrial Localization of Cx26 Promotes Colorectal Cancer Malignancy and Exposes a Fatal Vulnerability to Drug Targeting

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Mitochondrial localization of Cx26 emerges as a double‐edged sword in colorectal cancer. PIMT‐mediated methylation of Cx26 promotes its mitochondrial localization and stability. Mitochondrial Cx26 then facilitates ER‐mitochondria communication and Ca2+ signaling, thereby promoting metastatic progression. Bortezomib exploits this malignant adaptation by

Photoactivated Platinum Complexes: Targeting Membrane Proteins and Organelles for Precision Cancer Therapy

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
This review highlights an emerging anticancer approach integrating platinum agents into photodynamic therapy (PDT) and photoactivated chemotherapy (PACT) systems, further augmented by cancer cell membrane‐ and organelle‐targeting. By directing photoactivated platinum complexes from nontargeted distribution to cancer cells or defined subcellular sites ...

Differential Diagnosis of Mucopolysaccharidoses Types I, II, III, IVA, and VI Through Analysis of Leukocytic Inclusions

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Medical Genetics Part A, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Mucopolysaccharidoses (MPS) are lysosomal storage disorders characterized by the accumulation of glycosaminoglycans (GAGs), which can lead to cytoplasmic alterations in leukocytes. The objective of this study was to characterize leukocyte inclusions in patients with different types of MPS and assess their diagnostic relevance.

SDPR–STK38 axis controls the proliferation–differentiation balance in alveolar type II cells

open access: yesAnimal Models and Experimental Medicine, EarlyView.
The present study identifies SDPR as a pivotal regulator orchestrating the balance between proliferation and differentiation in alveolar type II (AT2) cells. In SDPR+/+ cells, SDPR binds to and inhibits STK38 activity, thereby sustaining GSK‐3β signaling functionality to promote cyclin D1 degradation and maintain cell cycle homeostasis.
