Abstract Fjords are globally significant sedimentary archives that record the relationship between glacial, tectonic, and marine processes. Fiordland, on the southwest coast of New Zealand, hosts one of the most extensive temperate fjord provinces in the Southern Hemisphere, yet its postglacial evolution has remained poorly constrained.

ABSTRACT Subaerial Pyroclastic Density Currents (PDCs) and Subaqueous Eruption‐Fed Density Currents (SEFDCs) produced during volcanic eruptions can present major hazards to surrounding communities and ecosystems. The bedforms deposited by these volcanic density currents can provide insights into the nature of transport and depositional processes, which

Abstract Syros island preserves pristine high‐pressure metamorphic rocks and provides invaluable insight into subduction zone processes. Contrasting views on the structural history impede placing the island in a clear tectonic framework, limiting the broader impact of preserved information.

Adaptive Backstepping Control for a Class of Nonlinear Systems With Unknown Time Delay
In this paper, an adaptive backstepping control scheme is proposed for a class of nonlinear systems with unknown time delay. The unknown time delay in the system depends on all system states, which will inevitably destroy the triangular structure of the ...

Adaptive Backstepping Sliding Mode Control of Air-Breathing Hypersonic Vehicles
In this paper, a controller combining backstepping and adaptive supertwisting sliding mode control method is proposed for altitude and velocity tracking control of air-breathing hypersonic vehicles (AHVs). Firstly, the nonlinear longitudinal model of AHV

A backstepping design for flight path angle control
A nonlinear approach to flight path angle control is presented. Using backstepping, a globally stabilizing control law is derived. Although the nonlinear nature of the lift force is considered, the pitching moment to be produced is only linear in the measured states.
