The mutagenicity of benzimidazole and benzimidazole derivatives III . The influence of the 2-substituent in benzimidazole on the mutagenic activity

open access: yesCHIMIA, 1973
A number of 2-substituted benzimidazoles has been prepared and the compounds were characterized by their physico-chemical and spectral properties. - Mutagenicity tests with two strains of Salmonella typhimurium revealed that on one hand the mutagenic ...

Bis(benzimidazole) Complexes, Synthesis and Their Biological Properties: A Perspective

open access: yesInorganics, 2023
Benzimidazoles are a very well-known, broad group of compounds containing nitrogen atoms in their structure that can mimic properties of DNA bases. The compounds show not only biological activities but also are used for spectral and catalytic properties.

Chemical design and magnetic ordering in thin layers of 2D MOFs [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of the American Chemical Society 143, 44, 18502 (2021), 2021
Through rational chemical design, and thanks to the hybrid nature of metal-organic frameworks (MOFs), it is possible to prepare molecule-based 2D magnetic materials stable at ambient conditions. Here, we illustrate the versatility of this approach by changing both the metallic nodes and the ligands in a family of layered MOFs that allows the tuning of ...

Iron-Catalyzed Acceptorless Dehydrogenative Coupling of Alcohols With Aromatic Diamines: Selective Synthesis of 1,2-Disubstituted Benzimidazoles

open access: yesFrontiers in Chemistry, 2020
Benzimidazoles are important N-heteroaromatic compounds with various biological activities and pharmacological applications. Herein, we present the first iron-catalyzed selective synthesis of 1,2-disubstituted benzimidazoles via acceptorless ...

Dual Photochemistry of Benzimidazole

open access: yesThe Journal of Organic Chemistry, 2023
Monomers of benzimidazole trapped in an argon matrix at 15 K were characterized by vibrational spectroscopy and identified as 1H-tautomers exclusively. The photochemistry of matrix-isolated 1H-benzimidazole was induced by excitations with a frequency-tunable narrowband UV light and followed spectroscopically.

Unexpected Synthesis, Single-Crystal X-ray Structure, Anticancer Activity, and Molecular Docking Studies of Certain 2–((Imidazole/Benzimidazol–2–yl)thio)–1–arylethanones

open access: yesCrystals, 2020
In connection with our research program concerning development of novel effective benzimidazole-based anticancer candidates, herein we describe a new unexpected synthetic route to obtain a series of 2–((imidazole/benzimidazol2–yl)thio)1–arylethanones ...

Synthesis and Antimycobacterial Activity of 2,5-Disubstituted and 1,2,5-Trisubstituted Benzimidazoles

open access: yesFrontiers in Chemistry, 2020
The appearance of drug-resistant strains of Mycobacterium tuberculosis and the dramatic increase in infection rates worldwide evidences the urgency of developing new and effective compounds for treating tuberculosis. Benzimidazoles represent one possible

Interaction of Colchicine-Site Ligands With the Blood Cell-Specific Isotype of β-Tubulin—Notable Affinity for Benzimidazoles

open access: yesFrontiers in Cell and Developmental Biology, 2022
Tubulin, the main component of microtubules, is an α-β heterodimer that contains one of multiple isotypes of each monomer. Although the isotypes of each monomer are very similar, the beta tubulin isotype found in blood cells is significantly divergent in
