The Essential Oil Derived from Perilla frutescens (L.) Britt. Attenuates Imiquimod–Induced Psoriasis-like Skin Lesions in BALB/c Mice

open access: yesMolecules, 2022
Psoriasis is reported to be a common chronic immune-mediated skin disease characterized by abnormal keratinocytes and cell proliferation. Perilla leaves are rich in essential oils, fatty acids, and flavonoids, which are recognized for their antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects.

Effects of Photoperiod on Vegetative Growth, Flowering and Fruiting of Capsicum frutescens L. and C. annuum L. in Japan

open access: yesEnvironment Control in Biology, 2008
We investigated the effects of photoperiods (6-, 9-, 12-, or 24-h) on the vegetative growth, flowering and fruiting of two Capsicum frutescens L. lines from the Bonin and Ryukyu islands in Japan and C. annuum cv. ‘Takanotsume’ (referred to as BON, RYU, and TK, respectively). BON, RYU, and TK plants had better vegetative growth as photoperiod lengthened;

Isolation of Kombucha Microorganisms for Application in Perilla Beverage Fermentation

open access: yesFood Science &Nutrition, Volume 14, Issue 8, August 2026.
Five commercial kombucha samples from Vietnam were screened, yielding 37 isolates (22 AAB, 6 LAB, 9 yeasts). Three representative strains—Komagataeibacter saccharivorans, Levilactobacillus brevis, and Wickerhamomyces anomalus—were identified and combined into a defined starter consortium (yeast: AAB: LAB = 2:2:1).

Harnessing Natural Compounds in Psoriasis: Targeting Cellular Pathways for Effective Therapy

open access: yesPhytotherapy Research, Volume 40, Issue 8, Page 4759-4791, August 2026.
Natural compounds act on key cellular pathways in psoriasis by suppressing keratinocyte hyperproliferation, modulating Th17/IL‐17‐mediated immune responses, and reducing oxidative stress. These multi‐target effects highlight their potential as safer adjunctive therapies alongside conventional treatments.

Classification of C. annuum and C. frutescens Ripening Stages: How Well Does Deep Learning Perform?

open access: yesIIUM Engineering Journal
Chilli is one of the world's most widely grown crops. Among all of the chilli variants, C. annuum and C. frustescents are the most prevalent and consistently liked variants in Asia, where it is appreciated for its strong taste and pungency. Nevertheless, harvesting at the proper ripening stage according to their colour, size, and texture is essential ...

Molecular investigation of the phylogenetic placement of Kartalinia and a revision of Bituminaria (Fabaceae: Psoraleeae)

open access: yesTAXON, Volume 75, Issue 4, August 2026.
Abstract The genus Kartalinia was described to accommodate a single, obscure species, Psoralea acaulis, based on its unique morphology and karyology. No concerted molecular phylogenetic studies were available for this species at the time, and therefore its phylogenetic position was uncertain.
