Salt‐induced nutritional and metabolic shifts in halophytes: implications for food security

open access: yesJournal of the Science of Food and Agriculture, EarlyView.
Abstract Plant species vary in their response to salinity: some crops show a degree of salt tolerance, while halophytes – whether wild or cultivated – are characterized by a high capacity to thrive under saline conditions. Halophytes are considered a source of valuable secondary metabolites with potential economic value, yet they might also produce ...

Allograft Survival with Calcineurin Inhibitors

open access: yes, 2008
The immunosuppressive drugs cyclosporine A (CsA) and tacrolimus (FK506), also called calcineurin inhibitors, have truly revolutionized allograft transplantation.

Transcriptional regulation in the absence of inositol trisphosphate receptor calcium signaling

open access: yesFrontiers in Cell and Developmental Biology
The activation of IP3 receptor (IP3R) Ca2+ channels generates agonist-mediated Ca2+ signals that are critical for the regulation of a wide range of biological processes. It is therefore surprising that CRISPR induced loss of all three IP3R isoforms (TKO)

Clinical Efficacy and Safety of Topical Roflumilast in Psoriasis: An Updated Systematic Review and Meta‐Analysis of Randomized Controlled Trials

open access: yesJEADV Clinical Practice, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Traditional first‐line topical treatments for plaque psoriasis, particularly corticosteroids and vitamin D analogs, frequently have only limited efficacy for long‐term use, and present difficulties with safety and adherence. Objectives In this systematic review and meta‐analysis of randomized controlled trials (RCTs), we assessed ...

Vergleichende Charakterisierung der humanen Calcineurin-Isoformen [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009

JAK Inhibitors in Psoriatic–Atopic Dermatitis Overlap: A Four‑Case Series

open access: yesJEADV Clinical Practice, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Overlap between psoriasis and atopic dermatitis (AD) poses diagnostic and therapeutic challenges; monoclonal antibodies targeting a single axis may improve one component while worsening the other [1]. Janus kinase (JAK) inhibitors act pleiotropically and may provide simultaneous control of psoriatic and eczematous inflammation [2].

Balanced interactions of calcineurin with AKAP79 regulate Ca2+–calcineurin–NFAT signaling

open access: yes, 2012
In hippocampal neurons, the scaffold protein AKAP79 recruits the phosphatase calcineurin to L-type Ca2+ channels and couples Ca2+ influx to activation of calcineurin and of its substrate, the transcription factor NFAT.

Calcineurin in a Crowded World

open access: yesBiochemistry, 2016
Calcineurin is a Ser/Thr phosphatase that is important for key biological processes, including immune system activation. We previously identified a region in the intrinsically disordered regulatory domain of calcineurin that forms a critical amphipathic α-helix (the "distal helix") that is required for complete activation of calcineurin.

Residual Disease in Adult Psoriasis‐Treated Patients: Frequency, Clinical Aspects, and Management. A Survey Among Dermatologists

open access: yesJEADV Clinical Practice, EarlyView.
Abstract Background In moderate‐to‐severe psoriasis, residual lesions can be defined as “psoriasis lesions that persist despite well‐managed treatment, and which do not necessarily justify intensification or a change in treatment.” Residual lesions are accepted by guidelines and clinical trials.
