Calcineurin controls the expression of numerous genes in cerebellar granule cells [PDF]
The Ca(2+)/calmodulin-dependent phosphatase calcineurin plays a crucial role in gene expression in different cell types such as T-lymphocytes, cardiac myocytes, and smooth muscle cells.

Synechocystis strains deficient in succinate dehydrogenase (SDH) secrete more succinate than the WT under dark anaerobic conditions, supporting that SDH then primarily acts as SDH, not as a fumarate reductase. L‐aspartate oxidase (Laspo) from Synechocystis is functional under anaerobic conditions, reducing fumarate to succinate.

Clathrin-independent but dynamin-dependent mechanisms mediate Ca2+-triggered endocytosis of the glutamate GluK2 receptor upon excitotoxicity [PDF]
We first explore the features of GluK2 endocytosis during kainate excitotoxicity and then explore the role of Ca2+ in the regulation of GluK2 endocytosis. The roles of Ca2+ were examined by treating cells with Ca2+ inhibitors or chelators.

Multiple labial melanotic macules occurring after topical application of calcineurin inhibitors [PDF]
Topical calcineurin inhibitors are widely used to treat inflammatory dermatoses for their steroid-sparing advantage. Herein, we report a patient with chronic lip dermatitis who developed multiple labial melanotic macules after application of tacrolimus 0.

TGF‐β1 stimulation downregulates lysosomal channel TRPML1 in pulmonary fibroblasts. The TRPML1 agonist ML‐SA5 suppressed fibroblast‐to‐myofibroblast activation and collagen production. Mechanistically, ML‐SA5 inhibited mTOR phosphorylation, restored autophagic flux, and its effects were enhanced by rapamycin (mTOR inhibitor) and reversed by MHY1485 ...

Living donor heart valves offer superior durability for pediatric patients but trigger immune rejection. Lentiviral delivery of viral immune‐evasion genes US2 and Serpin b9 into donor valve cells and valve tissue suppresses HLA expression, reduces PBMC clustering and cytotoxic killing, and induces transcriptional immune‐tolerance programs, paving the ...
