Leveraging the ADAM10 prodomain for selective inhibition to enhance recovery after myocardial infarction

open access: yesBritish Journal of Pharmacology, Volume 183, Issue 5, Page 990-1008, March 2026.
Background and Purpose Inflammation plays a crucial role in the development and progression of numerous acute and chronic diseases such as myocardial infarction (MI) and heart failure. Targeting ADAM proteases, particularly ADAM10, holds promise for fine‐tuning inflammatory responses.

Treg cells retain stable lineage commitment during pregnancy in mice after late gestation inflammatory challenge

open access: yesImmunology &Cell Biology, Volume 104, Issue 3, Page 276-311, March 2026.
In this study, we used Foxp3‐fatemapping mice to examine the cell lineage stability of Treg cells in pregnancy. Ex‐Foxp3 cells were identified in gestational tissues. However, Treg cells retained lineage stability with no increased ex‐Foxp3 generation, regardless of inflammatory challenges that induce preterm birth.

Calpain-2 mediates SARS-CoV-2 entry via regulating ACE2 levels

open access: yesmBio
Since the beginning of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic, much effort has been dedicated to identifying effective antivirals against severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2).

Calcium Dysregulation Promotes Glioma Progression by Inhibiting STAT3 Degradation Through Blocking Chaperone‐Mediated Autophagy

open access: yesJournal of Cellular and Molecular Medicine, Volume 30, Issue 5, March 2026.
ABSTRACT Calcium dysregulation is closely associated with cancer cell proliferation, migration, and invasion. Transient receptor potential canonical 1 (TRPC1) plays an essential role in regulating calcium homeostasis. However, the role of TRPC1 in calcium dysregulation in gliomas remains incompletely understood. In this study, we demonstrate that TRPC1

Proton pump inhibitors modulate esophageal epithelial barrier function and crosstalk with eosinophils

open access: yesPediatric Allergy and Immunology, Volume 37, Issue 3, March 2026.
Abstract Background Eosinophilic esophagitis (EoE) is a chronic allergic disorder driven by type 2 inflammation, characterized by eosinophilic infiltration and esophageal epithelial abnormalities, including barrier dysfunction, basal cell hyperplasia, epithelial thickening, and loss of differentiation.

Transport‐related effects on intrinsic and synaptic properties of human cortical neurons: A comparative study

open access: yesThe Journal of Physiology, Volume 604, Issue 5, Page 2060-2082, 1 March 2026.
Abstract figure legend In this study, we investigated how transporting brain slices influences the electrophysiological and morphological properties of human cortical neurons. Whole‐cell patch‐clamp recordings were obtained from acute slices prepared from tissue collected during epilepsy or tumor surgeries, either on‐site or off‐site, after ...

Revisiting the calpain hypothesis of learning and memory 40 years later

open access: yesFrontiers in Molecular Neuroscience
In 1984, Gary Lynch and Michel Baudry published in Science a novel biochemical hypothesis for learning and memory, in which they postulated that the calcium-dependent protease, calpain, played a critical role in regulating synaptic properties and the ...
