Automated Radiosynthesis of [18F]FluoFAPI and Its Dosimetry and Single Acute Dose Toxicological Evaluation

open access: yesPharmaceuticals
Background: Cancer-associated fibroblasts have become a new target for therapy. Fibroblasts present within malignancies express the fibroblast activation protein (FAP).

In search of definitions: Cancer‐associated fibroblasts and their markers [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Cancer, 2019
The tumor microenvironment has been identified as one of the driving factors of tumor progression and invasion. Inside this microenvironment, cancer‐associated fibroblasts (CAFs), a type of perpetually activated fibroblasts, have been implicated to have a strong tumor‐modulating effect and play a key role in areas such as drug resistance ...

Enteropathogenic E. coli shows delayed attachment and host response in human jejunum organoid‐derived monolayers compared to HeLa cells

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Enteropathogenic E. coli (EPEC) infects the human intestinal epithelium, resulting in severe illness and diarrhoea. In this study, we compared the infection of cancer‐derived cell lines with human organoid‐derived models of the small intestine. We observed a delayed in attachment, inflammation and cell death on primary cells, indicating that host ...

Cancer-associated fibroblasts in carcinogenesis

open access: yesJournal of Translational Medicine
In contemporary times, cancer poses the most significant threat to human life and safety. Scientists have relentlessly pursued the intricacies of carcinogenesis and explored ways to prevent and treat cancer. Carcinogenesis is a complex, multi-faceted, and multi-stage process, with numerous underlying causes, including inflammation and fibrosis.

Cancer-associated fibroblasts in hepatocellular carcinoma

open access: yesWorld Journal of Gastroenterology, 2016
The hepatic stellate cells in the liver are stimulated sustainably by chronic injury of the hepatocytes, activating myofibroblasts, which produce abundant collagen. Myofibroblasts are the major source of extracellular proteins during fibrogenesis, and may directly, or secreted products, contribute to carcinogenesis and tumor progression.

344 The Potential Benefits of Using Senolytics in Colorectal Cancer Treatment

open access: yesJournal of Clinical and Translational Science, 2023
OBJECTIVES/GOALS: Anti-cancer therapies, such as chemotherapy, can induce senescence. Senescent cells may produce factors that can promote tumor progression.

Organoids in pediatric cancer research

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Organoid technology has revolutionized cancer research, yet its application in pediatric oncology remains limited. Recent advances have enabled the development of pediatric tumor organoids, offering new insights into disease biology, treatment response, and interactions with the tumor microenvironment.
