Brazilian Biomes as Promising Resources of Rhodotorula Yeasts for the Biotechnological Production of Carotenoids. [PDF]
ABSTRACT Yeasts belonging to the genus Rhodotorula are capable of synthesizing carotenoids, such as β‐carotene, γ‐carotene, torulene, torularodine, and astaxanthin. These carotenoids have been shown to offer health benefits to humans, such as immune system strengthening and a reduced risk of chronic degenerative diseases.

Molecular evolution and diversification of phytoene synthase (PSY) gene family
Phytoene synthase (PSY) is a crucial enzyme required for carotenoid biosynthesis, encoded by a gene family conserved in carotenoid-producing organisms. This gene family is diversified in angiosperms through distinct duplication events.

Abstract Plant growth‐promoting rhizobacteria enhances nutritional availability during root colonization. Pseudomonas is the most popular bioinoculant due to its synergistic effects on plant development. This study evaluated the impact of four Pseudomonas strain substrate inoculations on tomato phenology, yield, and selected phytochemical components ...

The role of environmental stress in fruit pigmentation
Abstract For many fruit crops, the colour of the fruit outwardly defines its eating quality. Fruit pigments provide reproductive advantage for the plant as well as providing protection against unfavourable environmental conditions and pathogens. For consumers these colours are considered attractive and provide many of the dietary benefits derived from ...

6ß‐Hydroxystigmast‐4‐en‐3‐one and blumenol A were isolated and identified from CWC for the first time. Fresh‐cut processing induced the biosynthesis of these two compounds in CWC during the late stage of storage. Expression of structural genes involved in terpenoid backbone biosynthesis and carotenoid precursor biosynthesis of CWC was induced by ...
