Caspase-3 activity increases following QLT-0276 treatment in paired females. [PDF]
Result of the caspase-3 activity assay showing that compared to a DMSO-treated control (left) the activity of caspase-3 of S. mansoni increased significantly (p = 0.01) in paired females treated with 100 μM QLT-0276 (right) as determined ...

Caspase-8 content in SNU-1 cells. [PDF]
Increases in intracellular Caspase-8 compared to blank (untreated) SNU-1 cells upon treatment with 50–5000 nm sized aminated, carboxylated and NF particles for 4 h. Data compared with respect to surface functionalization (A) or particle size (B).

Garcinol A Novel Inhibitor of Platelet Activation and Apoptosis
Garcinol, an anti-inflammatory and anti-carcinogenic polyisoprenylated benzophenone isolated from Garcinia plants, stimulates tumor cell apoptosis and suicidal erythrocyte death, but supports the survival of hepatocytes and neurons.

Caspase-8–dependent GSDMD activation promotes antibacterial defense; however, this pathway can also mediate TNF shock in vivo. Gasdermin D (GSDMD) is a pore-forming protein that promotes pyroptosis and release of proinflammatory cytokines. Recent studies

PANoptosis in the pathogenesis of myelodysplastic syndromes
PANoptosis, a combination of three types of programmed cell death, is mediated by a large protein complex called a PANoptosome. In healthy bone marrow hematopoietic cells, PANoptosis is restricted by inhibitory signaling. In MDS, bone marrow cells become sensitive to the PANoptotic stimuli due to the aberrant inactivation of inhibitory signaling or ...

Polyphenols of Frangula alnus and Peganum harmala Leaves and Associated Biological Activities
Frangula alnus and Peganum harmala populations growing in Saudi Arabia might be rich sources of natural compounds with important biological activities. A high performance liquid chromatography diode array revealed several polyphenols in the leaf extracts

This study explores the feasibility of expressing the antitumoral protein Amblyomin‐X through a suicide gene therapy approach and investigates its intracellular fate after gene delivery. Although the gene is efficiently expressed, melanoma cells rapidly degrade the Amblyomin‐X protein via proteasome activity.

Caspase-independent role of Apaf1 in T cell activation. [PDF]
LN cells from immunized Apaf1f/f-OTII or Lck-Cre-Apaf1f/f -OTII mice were stimulated with indicated doses of OVA or anti-CD3ε antibody in the presence or absence of z-VAD-fmk (z-VAD) for 48 hours.
