Unlocking the Potential of MXene‐Based Electrochemical Biosensors: A Review of Biofunctionalization Strategies and Biosensing Principles

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Electrochemical biosensors enable the accurate and timely detection of clinical biomarkers, improving healthcare and precision medicine. MXene nanosheets, a class of 2D transition metal carbides, nitrides, and carbonitrides, are promising materials for developing next‐generation electrochemical biosensors due to their unique physicochemical ...

Human breast milk stem cells: a new challenge for perinatologists

open access: yesJournal of Pediatric and Neonatal Individualized Medicine, 2016
The lactating mammary gland contains a stem cells population with multilineage potentialities. Recently it was also shown that breast milk contains a heterogeneous population of stem cells that have the potential to differentiate in vitro, under the ...

Coexpression analysis of CD133 and CD44 identifies proneural and mesenchymal subtypes of glioblastoma multiforme

open access: yes, 2015
Accumulating evidence suggests that the stem cell markers CD133 and CD44 indicate molecular subtype in Glioblastoma Multiforme (GBM). Gene coexpression analysis of The Cancer Genome Atlas GBM dataset was undertaken to compare markers of the Glioblastoma ...

Chromosomal Instability Drives Glioblastoma Heterogeneity and Therapeutic Opportunities

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Glioblastoma, the most aggressive and lethal form of brain cancer, is defined by profound genomic instability, with Chromosomal Instability (CIN) playing a central role in driving tumor progression, therapy resistance, and poor prognosis. CIN is characterized by numerical and structural alterations, is driven by mechanisms such as mitotic ...

CD44 activation in mature B-cell malignancies by a novel recurrent IGH translocation

open access: yes, 2010
Using inverse polymerase chain reaction, we identified CD44, located on chromosome 11p13, as a novel translocation partner of IGH in 9 of 114 cases of gastric, nongastric extranodal, follicular, and nodal diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL).

Pre‐Encoded IFN‐I Sensitivity Exacerbates Memory T Cell Senescence in Solid Tumors

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Type I interferon (IFN‐I) signaling promotes p21‐dependent cell cycle arrest in senescent tumor‐specific memory T cells, resulting in poor proliferative responses and solid tumor regression during cancer vaccination. Conversely, IFNα/β receptor blockade reinvigorates T cell proliferation to regress solid tumors and is more effective with increasing ...

CD44: expanding the toolKIT [PDF]

open access: yesBlood, 2018
Expanding the universe of mast cell diseases beyond tyrosine kinase inhibitors, in this issue of Blood, Mueller et al find that the invasion receptor CD44 is both a biomarker of and potential therapeutic target for mast cell neoplasms ...

Interactions of Antibody Drug Conjugate Anti‐Tubulin and Topoisomerase I Inhibitor Payloads with Radiotherapy to Potentiate Immunotherapy

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Antibody drug conjugates deliver their cytotoxic anti‐tubulin or topoisomerase I inhibitor payloads to tumors through cancer cell receptor targeting. The released drug payloads induce cellular changes that interact with radiotherapy resulting in radiosensitization that improves cancer cell kill and stimulates anti‐tumor immune responses.

Mesenchymal Stromal Cell‐Mediated Intercellular Communication: Mapping the Interactome for Skeletal Muscle Homeostasis and Regeneration

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Liu et al. define a systems‐level interactome of fibroadipogenic progenitor (FAP)‐mediated signaling in skeletal muscle by integrating single‐cell transcriptomics with FAP depletion‐based perturbation analysis. Functional interrogation using a conditioned media bioassay links predicted signaling to multicellular outcomes, establishing a framework to ...
