Tumour vaccines expressing IL-2, CD80, and IL-2 plus CD80 gene
International Journal of Oncology, 1997Experiments were designed to investigate immunogenicity and therapeutic efficacy of tumour vaccines constructed by transfection of poorly immunogenic murine sarcoma Mc12 with synergistic CD80 and IL-2 genes. Immunization/challenge experiments demonstrated that both, IL-2(+) and IL-2(+) plus CD80(+) live cell vaccines can exert an immunizing stimulus ...

Two Regions in the CD80 Cytoplasmic Tail Regulate CD80 Redistribution and T Cell Costimulation
The Journal of Immunology, 1998Abstract CD28 is a major T cell costimulatory molecule, delivering signals distinct from those of the CD3/TCR complex, which regulate cytokine and cytokine receptor expression, cell proliferation, and cell viability. CD28 needs to be cross-linked to initiate signals, yet both of its ligands, CD80 and CD86, are expressed as monomers ...

Expression of CD80 promoter in transgenic mice
Biochimica et Biophysica Acta (BBA) - Gene Structure and Expression, 2000CD80 is a very potent co-stimulatory factor which is required for complete T-cell activation. Here, we use transgenic mice as a tool to map the promoter of the CD80 gene. We engineered three different CD80 promoter driven luciferase transgenes: -3084, -1073 and -215. With these transgenes, we have generated three groups of transgenic mice.

Interactions of CD80 and CD86 with CD28 and CTLA4
The Journal of Immunology, 1996Abstract CD80 and CD86 are cell surface glycoproteins expressed on a variety of professional APCs. They have attracted much attention due to their function as potent costimulators of T lymphocyte function through their interaction with CD28 and possibly CTLA4. Because inhibitors of this interaction may have therapeutic relevance in human

Regulation of self-tolerance by CD80/CD86 interactions
Current Opinion in Immunology, 1997Antigen presentation by CD80/CD86-positive 'professional APCs' induces T-cell activation, whereas antigen presentation in the absence of sufficient CD80/CD86 costimulation may induce a form of tolerance. Blocking CD80/CD86 constimulation inhibits autoimmune disease progression in a variety of animal models, but whether these effects result from ...

CD80 Expression on Monocytes in HIV-Infected Patients
Journal of Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndromes and Human Retrovirology, 1997A prominent feature of HIV infection is a progressive anergy of T cells and an increase of activation-dependent T-cell death. CD80 (B7.1), the ligand of CD28, is an important co-stimulatory molecule on antigen-presenting cells that delivers an essential second signal for T-cell activation. To test whether immunologic dysfunction in HIV disease involves
