The authors investigated the effects of various glycan ligands for CLEC10A, a lectin receptor expressed on dendritic cells (DCs). Monocyte‐derived DCs were stimulated with glycan‐conjugated dendrimers in combination with the TLR1/2 ligand Pam3CysK4, and responses were investigated at the mRNA and protein level.

Older people often respond poorly to mRNA vaccines, with reduced T and B cell responses, but they also bear more morbidity and mortality for infectious diseases. Distinct from pharmacologic immunosuppression, we designed a programmed cytolytic effector T cell that prevents graft versus host disease (GVHD). CD83 is expressed on allo-activated conventional T cells (Tconv) and pro-inflammatory dendritic cells (DCs), which are implicated in GVHD pathogenesis.
