Biochemical and Molecular Characterization of the Rice Chalcone Isomerase Family [PDF]

open access: yesPlants, 2021
Chalcone isomerase (CHI) is a key enzyme in flavonoid biosynthesis. In plants, CHIs occur in multigene families, and they are divided into four types, types I–IV.

Chalcone Isomerase a Key Enzyme for Anthocyanin Biosynthesis in Ophiorrhiza japonica [PDF]

open access: yesFrontiers in Plant Science, 2019
Anthocyanins are distributed ubiquitously to terrestrial plants and chalcone isomerase (CHI) catalyzes the stereospecific isomerization of chalcones – a committed step in the anthocyanin biosynthesis pathway.

Evolutionary landscape of plant chalcone isomerase-fold gene families [PDF]

open access: yesFrontiers in Plant Science
Flavonoids are crucial for plant survival and adaptive evolution, and chalcone isomerase (CHI) genes serve as key rate-limiting gene in the flavonoid biosynthesis pathway.

A conserved strategy of chalcone isomerase-like protein to rectify promiscuous chalcone synthase specificity [PDF]

open access: yesNature Communications, 2020
Chalcone synthase is the first committed enzyme in the plant flavonoid biosynthesis pathway, yet shows low product specificity in vitro. Here Waki et al.

Molecular mechanism underlying regulation of chalcone synthase by chalcone isomerase-like protein [PDF]

open access: yesNature Communications
Flavonoids are essential for plant growth and environmental adaptation. Chalcone synthase (CHS) directs metabolic flux into flavonoid biosynthesis, but its catalytic promiscuity limits the biosynthetic efficiency.

AfCHIL, a Type IV Chalcone Isomerase, Enhances the Biosynthesis of Naringenin in Metabolic Engineering [PDF]

open access: yesFrontiers in Plant Science, 2022
Naringenin is an essential precursor for all flavonoids, and effectively promoting naringenin production is crucial in metabolic engineering. The interaction between plant metabolic enzymes ensures metabolic flux.

Overexpression of chalcone isomerase A gene in Astragalus trigonus for stimulating apigenin [PDF]

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2021
Apigenin is one of the most studied flavonoids and is widely distributed in the plant kingdom. Apigenin exerts important antioxidant, antibacterial, antifungal, antitumor activities, and anti-inflammatory effects in neurological or cardiovascular disease.

Molecular cloning and functional characterization of chalcone isomerase from Carthamus tinctorius [PDF]

open access: yesAMB Express, 2019
Flavonoid is one of the widespread groups of plant secondary metabolites that provide several health benefits. However, the explicit mechanism of flavonoid biosynthesis in plants largely remains unclear.

Identification and Functional Characterization of Fungal Chalcone Synthase and Chalcone Isomerase. [PDF]

open access: yesJ Nat Prod, 2023
By mining fungal genomic information, a noncanonical iterative type I PKS fused with an N-terminal adenylation-thiolation didomain, which catalyzes the formation of naringenin chalcone, was found. Structural prediction and molecular docking analysis indicated that a C-terminal thioesterase domain was involved in the Claisen-type cyclization.
