Claudin-1 protein expression levels determined by western blot.

open access: yes, 2016
The relative folds changes of Claudin-1 in the SO, CPB, MHCA and DHCA groups were 1.000 ± 0.130, 0.992 ± 0.069, 0.956 ± 0.062 and 0.784 ± 0.054, respectively. Mean ± SD; n = 5. **P < 0.05 DHCA vs. CPB; ^ P < 0.05 DHCA vs. MHCA.

Bifidobacterium Pseudolongum‐Derived Inosine Mitigates Polystyrene Nanoplastics‐Induced Hepatic Injury by Inhibiting the Polarization of M1 Macrophages

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Probiotic B.p colonization elevated gut‐derived inosine level in the liver, while elevated inosine activated A2AR and subsequently blocked NPs‐induced polarization of M1 macrophages by repressing the miR155/SOCS1/NF‐κB pathway. This reduced the release of inflammatory cytokines and thereby, mitigated NPs‐induced hepatic injury.

Transcriptomic Analysis of Testicular Gene Expression in a Dog Model of Experimentally Induced Cryptorchidism

open access: yesCells, 2022
Cryptorchidism, a condition in which testes fail to descend from the abdomen into the scrotum, is a risk factor for infertility and germ cell cancer. Normally, tight junctions between adjacent Sertoli cells in the testes form a blood–testes barrier that ...

Claudins and gastric carcinogenesis

open access: yesExperimental Biology and Medicine, 2013
Gastric carcinoma arises from aberrant growth of normal gastric mucosa. There is increasing evidence that claudins (CLDNs) may play a critical role in the significant steps of gastric tumorigenesis, from metaplasia to metastasis. The CLDN family which consists of at least 27 member proteins is known to mediate selective permeability in cellular tight ...

Claudin-1 localisation at the tight junctions is disrupted by PAF and restored by BML-111.

open access: yes, 2023
Composite X/Y confocal images of 16HBE14o- polarised monolayers untreated (control) or treated with P. aeruginosa filtrate (PAF) for 24h or PAF + 200 nmol/L BML-111 (BML) immunostained for (A) ZO-1 (red), (B) Claudin-1 (red), (C) E-cadherin (red). Nuclei

Amuc_1473 Links Gut Microbes to Skeletal Homeostasis and Counteracts Multifactorial Osteoporosis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Amuc_1473, a previously uncharacterized protein enriched in Akkermansia muciniphila‐derived extracellular vesicles, is identified as a gut–bone messenger that promotes osteogenesis and inhibits osteoclastogenesis by engaging transcriptional and translational regulators in bone cells.

Development of a Human 3D Immune‐Competent Neurovascular Model Enabling Time‐Resolved Monitoring of Neuroinflammatory Dynamics and Neuroimmune Interactions

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Neuroinflammation alters blood–brain barrier integrity and contributes to neurological disorders, yet existing models lack human immune complexity. This study presents a 3D, immune‐responsive platform that reconstructs key neurovascular components and enables real‐time monitoring.

The Expression of the Claudin Family of Proteins in Colorectal Cancer

open access: yesBiomolecules
Claudins (CLDN1–CLDN24) are a family of tight junction proteins whose dysregulation has been implicated in tumorigeneses of many cancer types. In colorectal cancer (CRC), CLDN1, CLDN2, CLDN4, and CLDN18 have been shown to either be upregulated or ...

Localization of Claudin‐3 and Claudin‐4 within the Small Intestine of newborn piglets

open access: yesPhysiological Reports, 2021
Piglets must acquire passive immunity through colostrum within hours after birth to survive. How colostral macromolecules traverse the small intestinal epithelium may include nonselective pinocytosis and paracellular transport through tight junction ...
