Circular RNAs function as competing endogenous RNAs in multiple types of cancer (Review)
Circular (circ)RNAs, naturally formed endogenous non-coding RNAs, have received extensive attention in recent years due to their special loop structures and specific function. circRNAs are formed with covalently closed continuous loops and are mainly generated by back-splicing processes or lariat introns from exons and/or introns. Usually, circRNAs are

Analysis of circular RNA‑associated competing endogenous RNA network in breast cancer
As the most common type of cancer in female patients, the morbidity and mortality rates of breast cancer (BC) are high, and its incidence is gradually increasing worldwide. However, the underlying molecular and genetic mechanisms involved in the etiopathogenesis of BC remain unclear.

The MRP4 transporter exports several drugs and signaling molecules. Here, we identified key promoter elements regulating basal MRP4 expression. Using reporter assays, we defined a conserved region with essential Sp1 and contributory Ets sites, which controlled basal MRP4 expression.

Competing Endogenous RNA of Snail and Zeb1 UTR in Therapeutic Resistance of Colorectal Cancer [PDF]
The epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) comprises an important biological mechanism not only for cancer progression but also in the therapeutic resistance of cancer cells.

KIF26B plays an important role in kidney development. We engineered mice lacking the C‐terminal region of KIF26B and found severe kidney defects, including bilateral renal agenesis, similar to full Kif26b knockout mice. The mutation disrupted nephron progenitor condensation and reduced Gdnf‐Wnt11 signaling, showing that the KIF26B C‐terminal region is ...

In a murine model of myocardial ischemia and reperfusion (MI/R), the CD36 azapeptide ligand MPE‐298 reduces cardiac injury and transiently lowers left ventricular long‐chain fatty acids (LCFAs) accumulation 3 h after reperfusion, accompanied by a decrease of oxidative stress and inflammation‐associated genes' expression in the heart and adipose tissue.

Comprehensive analysis of an lncRNA-miRNA-mRNA competing endogenous RNA network in pulpitis [PDF]
Background Pulpitis is a common inflammatory disease that affects dental pulp. It is important to understand the molecular signals of inflammation and repair associated with this process. Increasing evidence has revealed that long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs)

AFCMEasyModel: An Easy Interface for Modeling Competing Endogenous RNA Networks using ODEs
Competing endogenous RNA networks have been considered to be important regulators of genetic data expression. Circular RNAs and microRNAs interact to form a circular sponge that have been shown to regulate messenger RNAs and hence regulating gene ...

Neutrophil‐Mimetic MRI Enables Ultra‐Early Detection of Vascular Inflammation After Stroke
In this study, we developed neutrophil‐mimetic MRI probes that detect ultra‐early neuroinflammation following ischemic stroke by targeting E‐selectin. Within seconds of their injection, these microparticles mimic initial leukocyte adhesion to the activated cerebral endothelium.

LINC00152 Drives a Competing Endogenous RNA Network in Human Hepatocellular Carcinoma
Genomic and epigenomic studies revealed dysregulation of long non-coding RNAs in many cancer entities, including liver cancer. We identified an epigenetic mechanism leading to upregulation of the long intergenic non-coding RNA 152 (LINC00152) expression ...
