Mitochondrial F1Fo-ATP synthase complexes do not exist as physically independent entities but rather form dimeric and possibly oligomeric complexes in the inner mitochondrial membrane.

Loss of AP-3 function affects spontaneous and evoked release at hippocampal mossy fiber synapses [PDF]
Synaptic vesicle (SV) exocytosis mediating neurotransmitter release occurs spontaneously at low intraterminal calcium concentrations and is stimulated by a rise in intracellular calcium.

Genomic Landscape of High‐Altitude Adaptation in East African Mountain Honey Bees (Apis mellifera)
Highland and lowland honey bees in East Africa exhibit distinct phenotypes despite low overall genetic differentiation. To investigate this further, we sampled honey bees from a mountain system in Uganda (red circle) and compared them with samples from Kenya.

A role of complexin–lipid interactions in membrane fusion [PDF]
Complexins (Cpxs) and synaptotagmins regulate calcium‐dependent exocytosis. A central helix in Cpx confers specific binding to the soluble N‐ethylmaleimide‐sensitive factor‐attachment protein receptor (SNARE) fusion machinery. An accessory helix in the amino‐terminal region inhibits membrane fusion by blocking SNAREpin zippering.

Tensor-based morphometry and stereology reveal brain pathology in the complexin1 knockout mouse. [PDF]
Complexins (Cplxs) are small, soluble, regulatory proteins that bind reversibly to the SNARE complex and modulate synaptic vesicle release. Cplx1 knockout mice (Cplx1(-/-)) have the earliest known onset of ataxia seen in a mouse model, although hitherto ...

Abstract Early genetic studies have suggested that body size in rabbits can be considered a quantitative trait. Several rabbit breeds can be distinguished based on body size, including a few dwarf breeds differentiated by other morphological characteristics.

Synaptic Vesicle Recycling at the Developing Presynapse
During presynaptic development, the coupling between calcium influx and synaptic vesicles (SVs) tightens with maturity, transitioning from microdomain to nanodomain. In immature neurons, spontaneous SV exocytosis is the dominant SV fusion mode, whereas SV fusion is mostly evoked by action potential firing in mature presynapses.

Calcium-evoked release of neurotransmitters from synaptic vesicles (SVs) is catalysed by SNARE proteins. The predominant view is that, at rest, complete assembly of SNARE complexes is inhibited (‘clamped’) by synaptotagmin and complexin molecules ...

The c-terminal extension of a hybrid immunoglobulin A/G heavy chain is responsible for its Golgi-mediated sorting to the vacuole [PDF]
We have assessed the ability of the plant secretory pathway to handle the expression of complex heterologous proteins by investigating the fate of a hybrid immunoglobulin A/G in tobacco cells.

ABSTRACT Reduced expression of the serotonin transporter (5‐hydroxytryptamine transporter, 5‐HTT) in early life has been associated with a delay in postnatal brain development and endophenotypes of a variety of neuropsychiatric and neurodevelopmental disorders in adolescence and adulthood.
