The multicellular environment of the re‐entrant circuit in post‐myocardial infarction ventricular tachycardia: Beyond fibrosis

open access: yesThe Journal of Physiology, EarlyView.
Abstract figure legend Schematic overview of the temporal evolution of the post‐myocardial infarction substrate leading to ventricular tachycardia. Acute ischaemic injury initiates metabolic and electrophysiological disruption, followed by progressive inflammatory, fibrotic and structural remodelling within the infarct border zone.

Cytoskeletal Dynamics in Cancer: From Pathogenesis to Treatment

open access: yesMedComm, Volume 7, Issue 10, October 2026.
This review systematically addresses the fundamental roles of the cytoskeleton (actin filaments, microtubules, and intermediate filaments) in cancer progression. We focus on how cytoskeletal dynamics regulate tumor proliferation, metastasis, and programmed cell death, while also modulating the immune microenvironment. Understanding these mechanisms may

Adiponectin Attenuates Lipopolysaccharide-induced Apoptosis by Regulating the Cx43/PI3K/AKT Pathway

open access: yesFrontiers in Pharmacology, 2021
Cardiomyocyte apoptosis is a crucial factor leading to myocardial dysfunction. Adiponectin (APN) has a cardiomyocyte-protective impact. Studies have shown that the connexin43 (Cx43) and phosphatidylinositol-3-kinase (PI3K)/protein kinase B (AKT ...

MXene Bioinks for 3D Bioprinting: Design and Translation

open access: yesSmall, Volume 22, Issue 50, 7 September 2026.
This study establishes a comprehensive framework for MXene‐based bioinks in 3D bioprinting, highlighting the interplay between rheological engineering and electroactive hydrogels. By optimizing electrical percolation and mediated signaling, these formulations drive tissue‐specific biological outcomes and accelerated regeneration.

Acclimation of Hairless Spontaneously Hypertensive Rat to Ambient Temperature Attenuates Hypertension-Induced Pro-Arrhythmic Downregulation of Cx43 in the Left Heart Ventricle of Males

open access: yesBiomolecules
Objectives: Due to poor treatment adherence and lifestyle-based interventions, chronic hypertension is a dominant risk factor predisposing individuals to heart failure and malignant arrhythmias.

Interactive segmentation of membrane and membrane‐mimic densities in cryo‐EM maps

open access: yesActa Crystallographica Section D, Volume 82, Issue 8, Page 848-861, August 2026.
SURFER performs automated segmentation of contextual membrane and membrane‐mimic density in cryo‐EM maps to enable robust separation of macromolecular signal from surrounding detergent or lipid–membrane features. It is conveniently distributed as a plugin for UCSF ChimeraX, allowing interactive application within standard map‐visualization workflows ...

Coaxially Electrospun Myocardial dECM‐ Based Nanofibrous Scaffolds Demonstrate Enhanced Cardiomyocyte Biocompatibility

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, Volume 15, Issue 27, 17 July 2026.
Our coaxial electrospinning system is capable of incorporating decellularized myocardial extracellular matrix in a core‐sheath configuration, creating nanofibrous scaffolds. These scaffolds, in turn, support the maintenance of functional cardiomyocytes adhered to the surface of these bioactive scaffolds.

Connexin43 and Bergmann glial gap junctions in cerebellar function

open access: yesFrontiers in Neuroscience, 2008
Connexin43 (Cx43), a major component of astrocytic gap junctions, is abundantly expressed in Bergmann glial cells (BGCs) in the cerebellum, but the function of Cx43 in BGCs is largely unknown.

Astrocyte Mechanobiology: Linking Biomechanical Forces to Biochemical Signaling in the Central Nervous System

open access: yesGlia, Volume 74, Issue 7, July 2026.
Astrocytes are key sensors and transducers of biomechanical stimuli within the central nervous system. Astrocyte development is highly dependent on mechanical stimuli such as surrounding tissue stiffness and biomechanical strain. Mechanosensory pathways including integrins, connexins and pannexins, and mechanosensitive channels regulate astrocyte ...
