A mathematical model for persistent post-CSD vasoconstriction.

open access: yesPLoS Computational Biology, 2020
Cortical spreading depression (CSD) is the propagation of a relatively slow wave in cortical brain tissue that is linked to a number of pathological conditions such as stroke and migraine.

Nonthermal plasma approaches for combating implant‐associated infections: A compendious review

open access: yesVIEW, EarlyView.
Implant‐associated infections pose serious clinical challenges. Non‐thermal plasma (NTP) modifications overcome this bottleneck in distinct ways relative to traditional sterilization methods. Gas‐phase plasmas generate highly energetic species, UV radiation and reactive oxygen/nitrogen species (RONS), which alter the implant surface properties.

Vagus nerve stimulation reduces spreading depolarization burden and cortical infarct volume in a rat model of stroke.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2020
Cortical spreading depolarization (SD) waves negatively affect neuronal survival and outcome after ischemic stroke. We here aimed to investigate the effects of vagus nerve stimulation (VNS) on SDs in a rat model of focal ischemia.

Research Progress on Upper Airway Cough Syndrome

open access: yesWorld Journal of Otorhinolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Upper airway cough syndrome (UACS) has been identified as a significant contributor to chronic cough in various national guidelines. However, the complexity of its pathogenesis, the lack of clarity surrounding its diagnostic criteria, and its overlap with other etiologies of chronic cough present considerable challenges in both diagnosis and ...

Dynamics of ionic shifts in cortical spreading depression

open access: yes, 2015
Cortical spreading depression is a slowly propagatingwave of near-complete depolarization of brain cells followed by temporary suppression of neuronal activity.

The metabolic consequences of evoked spreading depolarization in brain slices. [PDF]

open access: yesSci Rep
Spreading depolarization is a wave of neuronal and glial depolarization that propagates through brain tissue, triggering neuropeptide release and altered blood flow.
