Rapid normal fibroblast‐tumor crosstalk promotes cancer‐associated fibroblast‐like activation and attenuates mitomycin C cytotoxicity in bladder cancer

open access: yesJournal of Cell Communication and Signaling, Volume 20, Issue 3, September 2026.
Normal bladder fibroblasts rapidly engage in bidirectional crosstalk with bladder cancer cells, acquiring cancer‐associated fibroblast‐like activation features while promoting wound closure, epithelial‐mesenchymal transition‐like cadherin remodeling, and reduced mitomycin C‐induced cytotoxicity.

Generation of Ctcf knockout mice.

open access: yes, 2013
(A) A schematic diagram of the mouse Ctcf locus and the targeting vector derived from the wild type Ctcf allele as described in Materials and Methods are shown. E1–E12 denote Ctcf exons 1 through 12.

A Review of Senescence‐Associated Secretory Phenotype‐Mediated Remodeling of the Tumor Microenvironment: Implications for Cancer Progression and Therapy

open access: yesCancer Reports, Volume 9, Issue 9, September 2026.
ABSTRACT Background Cellular senescence influences cancer progression through irreversible cell‐cycle arrest, immune surveillance, and paracrine signaling mediated by the senescence‐associated secretory phenotype (SASP). SASP comprises inflammatory cytokines, chemokines, growth factors, and matrix‐remodeling enzymes that regulate the tumor ...

Eating Behavior, Food Consumption Frequency, and Nutritional Status Among Undergraduate Nursing Students: A Cross‐Sectional Study

open access: yesFood Science &Nutrition, Volume 14, Issue 9, September 2026.
In a cross‐sectional study of 61 undergraduate nursing students in Brazil, dietary patterns were centered on rice, beans, and bread, with limited fruit and vegetable diversity and frequent coffee consumption (72.1% daily or weekly). Despite a predominantly eutrophic BMI profile (65.0%), eating behavior (TFEQ‐21 domains: Cognitive Restraint ...

CTCF is selectively required for maintaining chromatin accessibility and gene expression in human erythropoiesis

open access: yesGenome Biology
Background CTCF is considered as the most essential transcription factor regulating chromatin architecture and gene expression. However, genome-wide impact of CTCF on erythropoiesis has not been extensively investigated.

DNA Replication Stress‐Induced Transcriptome of Human Burkitt's Lymphoma Identifies Reciprocal Regulation Between MBD1 and BCL6 During Germinal Center‐Derived B‐Lymphomagenesis

open access: yesHematological Oncology, Volume 44, Issue 5, September 2026.
ABSTRACT BCL6 is a master transcriptional regulator of germinal center (GC) B cells. BCL6 is frequently translocated at the major translocation cluster (MTC) within intron 1 of the BCL6 locus, a hotspot commonly rearranged in diffuse large B cell lymphomas (DLBCLs).

Strategies and mechanisms of precision genome engineering: From gene editing to genome writing

open access: yesiMetaOmics, Volume 3, Issue 3, September 2026.
In this review, we examined the progression of genome manipulation from stochastic nuclease‐mediated cutting toward precise editing and programmable genome writing. We discussed tools like multi‐kilobase RNA‐guided integrators and Artificial Intelligence (AI)‐designed effectors and showed how these advances enable researchers to treat genomes as ...

Optical mapping reveals a higher level of large‐scale structural variants in a family with paternally transmitted myotonic dystrophy and independent Parkinson's disease

open access: yesThe Journal of Pathology, Volume 270, Issue 1, Page 83-97, September 2026.
Abstract Myotonic dystrophy type 1 (DM1) is a clinically challenging multisystem neuromuscular hereditary disorder, with generational increase in severity and earlier age at onset. It is caused by an unstable cytosine‐thymine‐guanine repeat expansion at the DMPK locus, accompanied by associated genetic and epigenetic modifications.

Characterization of the molecular interactions between Kaiso and CTCF using AlphaFold2 and molecular dynamics simulations

open access: yesBibechana
CCCTC-binding factor (CTCF) is an architectural protein that plays a crucial role in global chromatin organization and remodeling via its interaction with several protein partners.
