A novel inhibitor protein for Bombyx cysteine proteinase is homologous to propeptide regions of cysteine proteinases [PDF]

open access: yesFEBS Letters, 1999
A cDNA clone for an inhibitor of Bombyx cysteine proteinase was isolated and sequenced. Active inhibitor proteins were expressed in Escherichia coli using the cDNA. The open reading frame of the cDNA encodes a 105 residues protein with 19 residues of a signal sequence.

The primary structure of inhibitor of cysteine proteinases from potato [PDF]

open access: yesFEBS Letters, 1993
The complete amino acid sequence of the cysteine proteinase inhibitor from potato tubers was determined. The inhibitor is a single‐chain protein having 180 amino acid residues. Its primary structure was elucidated by automatic degradation of the intact protein and sequence analysis of peptides generated by CNBr, trypsin and glycyl endopeptidase.

Coffee cysteine proteinases and related inhibitors with high expression during grain maturation and germination

open access: yesBMC Plant Biology, 2012
Background Cysteine proteinases perform multiple functions in seeds, including participation in remodelling polypeptides and recycling amino acids during maturation and germination.

Primary structure of potato Kunitz-type serine proteinase inhibitor [PDF]

open access: yes, 2000
The serine proteinase inhibitor (PSPI-51) isolated from potato tubers (Solanum tuberosum L,) comprises two protein species with pi 5.2 and 6.3, denoted as PSPI-21-5.2 and PSPI-21-6.3, respectively.

Protective effect of latex proteins from Plumeria pudica against acetaminophen-induced acute liver injury [PDF]

open access: yesAnais da Academia Brasileira de Ciências
The protein fraction from Plumeria pudica latex (LPPp) was evaluated against APAP-induced liver injury in mice. Key measurements included total leukocyte count, liver weight, AST, ALT, liver levels of MDA, GSH, SOD, MPO, NO3/NO2 concentration, cytokines ...

Selective loss of cysteine residues and disulphide bonds in a potato proteinase inhibitor II family. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2011
Disulphide bonds between cysteine residues in proteins play a key role in protein folding, stability, and function. Loss of a disulphide bond is often associated with functional differentiation of the protein.

Cysteine peptidases and their inhibitors in breast and genital cancer.

open access: yesFolia Histochemica et Cytobiologica, 2010
Cysteine proteinases and their inhibitors probably play the main role in carcinogenesis and metastasis. The metastasis process need external proteolytic activities that pass several barriers which are membranous structures of the connective tissue which ...

The synthesis of peptidylfluoromethanes and their properties as inhibitors of serine proteinases and cysteine proteinases [PDF]

open access: yesBiochemical Journal, 1986
A synthesis of peptidylfluoromethanes is described that utilizes the conversion of phthaloyl amino acids into their fluoromethane derivatives. These can be deblocked and elongated. The inactivation of chymotrypsin by Cbz-Phe-CH2F (benzyloxycarbonylphenylalanylfluoromethane) was found to be considerably slower than that of the analogous chloromethane ...

The effects of a plant proteinase inhibitor from Enterolobium contortisiliquum on human tumor cell lines [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Supplementary to the efficient inhibition of trypsin, chymotrypsin, plasma kallikrein, and plasmin already described by the EcTI inhibitor from Enterolobium contortisiliquum, it also blocks human neutrophil elastase (K(iapp)=4.3 nM) and prevents phorbol ...
