Acid-Sensing Ion Channel 2: Function and Modulation [PDF]
Acid-sensing ion channels (ASICs) have an important influence on human physiology and pathology. They are members of the degenerin/epithelial sodium channel family.

The Degenerin/ENaC channel, encoded by ACCN5, serves a critical function in the vestibulocerebellum [PDF]
ACCN5 encodes the BLINaC/hINaC member of the Deg/ENaC ion channel family. As we demonstrate using a novel mouse line that we engineered to contain a LacZ cassette knockin that interrupts the third exon of this gene, BLINaC has a unique expression profile for a Deg/ENaC channel.

Functional domains within the degenerin/epithelial sodium channel (Deg/ENaC) superfamily of ion channels [PDF]
Application of recombinant DNA technology and electrophysiology to the study of amiloride‐sensitive Na+ channels has resulted in an enormous increase in the understanding of the structure‐function relationships of these channels. Moreover, this knowledge has permitted the elucidation of the physiological roles of these ion channels in cellular ...

The bile acid-sensitive ion channel is gated by Ca2+-dependent conformational changes in the transmembrane domain [PDF]
The bile acid-sensitive ion channel (BASIC) is the least understood member of the mammalian epithelial Na+ channel/degenerin (ENaC/DEG) superfamily of ion channels, which are involved in a variety of physiological processes.

The Role of Neuro-Immune Regulation in the Pathogenesis of Psoriasis. [PDF]
Psoriasis is a chronic inflammatory skin disease characterized by abnormal proliferation of epidermal cells induced by an overactive immune system. In addition to the interaction between immune cells and keratinocytes, emerging research highlights the indispensable role of peripheral sensory neurons in the initiation and progression of psoriatic ...

Physiological insight into the conserved properties of Caenorhabditis elegans acid-sensing degenerin/epithelial sodium channels. [PDF]
Acid-sensing ion channels (ASICs) are members of the diverse family of degenerin/epithelial sodium channels (DEG/ENaCs). They perform a wide range of physiological roles in healthy organisms, including in gut function and synaptic transmission, but also ...
