Dietary anthocyanins and insulin resistance: When food becomes a medicine [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Insulin resistance is an abnormal physiological state that occurs when insulin from pancreatic β-cells is unable to trigger a signal transduction pathway in target organs such as the liver, muscles and adipose tissues.

Innovative Non‐Releasing Polyphenol Systems as a New Strategy Against Rosé Wine Oxidation

open access: yesFood Frontiers, Volume 7, Issue 2, March 2026.
An innovative system was developed to covalently immobilize polyphenols from grape must on chitosan beads. The resulting beads, containing stable and non‐releasing polyphenols, were applied to rosé wine under oxidative stress. This strategy enhanced rosé wine color stability and oxidation, offering a valuable alternative to sulfur dioxide.

Delphinidin attenuates pathological cardiac hypertrophy via the AMPK/NOX/MAPK signaling pathway

open access: yesAging, 2020
Reactive oxygen species (ROS) play a pivotal role in the development of pathological cardiac hypertrophy. Delphinidin, a natural flavonoid, was reported to exert marked antioxidative effects. Therefore, we investigated whether delphinidin ameliorates pathological cardiac hypertrophy via inhibiting oxidative stress. In this study, male C57BL/6 mice were

A Delphinidin-Enriched Maqui Berry Extract Improves Bone Metabolism and Protects against Bone Loss in Osteopenic Mouse Models

open access: yesAntioxidants, 2019
In our previous investigation, delphinidin, one of the most abundant anthocyanins found in vegetables and berry fruits, had been shown to inhibit osteoclasts and prevent bone loss in mouse models of osteoporosis.

Administration of Delphinidin to Improve Survival and Neurological Outcome in Mice After Cardiac Arrest and Resuscitation

open access: yesAntioxidants
Reactive oxygen species (ROS) play an important role in ischemia–reperfusion (I/R) after cardiac arrest and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CA-CPR). Early administration of vitamin C at a high dose in experimental models resulted in less myocardial damage

Antiviral Properties of the Natural Polyphenols Delphinidin and Epigallocatechin Gallate against the Flaviviruses West Nile Virus, Zika Virus, and Dengue Virus

open access: yesFrontiers in Microbiology, 2017
The Flavivirus genus contains important pathogens, such as West Nile virus (WNV), Zika virus (ZIKV), and Dengue virus (DENV), which are enveloped plus-strand RNA viruses transmitted by mosquitoes and constitute a worrisome threat to global human and ...
