Design, Synthesis, Pharmacological Evaluation and Vascular Effects of Delphinidin Analogues
Current Pharmaceutical Design, 2019Background: Among polyphenolic compounds suggested to prevent cardiovascular diseases (CVDs) and to explain the “French paradox”, the anthocyanidin delphinidin (Dp) has been reported to support at least partly the vascular beneficial effects of dietary polyphenolic compounds including those from fruits and related products as red wine.

Delphinidin- and cyanidin-chlorides, promotors of cell aggregation in vitro
Cell Biology International Reports, 1978Delphinidin-chloride and Cyanidinchloride cause cells in cell culture to form aggregates instead of the usual monolayers, without impairing viability or proliferation. The process is reversible.

Activity of delphinidin on microvascular damage models in rodents
Phytotherapy Research, 1992AbstractDelphinidin chloride (IdB 1056) was found to possess a significant activity by the intraperitoneal and oral routes in different experimental models of microvascular damage. It antagonized the increase in skin capillary permeability induced by histamine in rats and rabbits, by bradykinin and hyaluronidase in rats and by xylol in mice ...

Flavonoids are strong antioxidants that prevent DNA damage. The anticancer and antiviral activities of these natural products are implicated in their mechanism of actions. However, there has been no information on the interactions of these antioxidants with individual DNA at molecular level.

Blockade of the Renin-Angiotensin System with Delphinidin, Cyanin, and Quercetin
Planta Medica, 2012Overactivation of the renin-angiotensin system is one of the most important risk factors for the development of hypertension. The use of the crude extracts and/or active compounds, such as anthocyanins and quercetin, of herbal plants that have antihypertensive effects is beneficial for decreasing of blood pressure level.

Delphinidin, a dietary anthocyanidin in berry fruits, inhibits human glyoxalase I
Bioorganic & Medicinal Chemistry, 2010Glyoxalase I (GLO I) is the rate-limiting enzyme for detoxification of methylglyoxal (MG), a side-product of glycolysis, which is able to induce apoptosis. Since GLO I is known to be highly expressed in the most tumor cells and little in normal cells, inhibitors of this enzyme has been expected to be new anticancer drugs.

Effects of the natural flavonoid delphinidin on diabetic microangiopathy.
Arzneimittel-Forschung, 1995The purpose of the present study was to investigate the effects of the flavonoid delphinidin chloride (CAS 528-53-0, IdB 1056) on diabetic microangiopathy. Hamsters were injected with alloxan and cheek pouch microcirculation was observed by a fluorescent microscopy technique 90 days from alloxan.

Delphinidin 3′-galloylgalactosides from blue flowers of Nymphaéa caerulea
Phytochemistry, 1999Abstract Two novel acylated anthocyanins have been isolated from blue flowers of the African water lily Nympha ea caerulea (= Nympha ea capensis). By a combination of chromatography, electrospray MS and homo- and heteronuclear two-dimensional NMR techniques they were identified to be delphinidin 3′- O - (2″- O -galloyl- β -galactopyranoside) (1) and

Acylated delphinidin glycosides in the blue-violet flowers of Consolida armeniaca
Phytochemistry, 1996Four new acylated delphinidin 3,7-glycosides were isolated from the blue-violet flowers of Consolida armeniaca as major anthocyanin pigments. The first pigment was based on delphinidin 3,7-diglucoside and was identified as delphinidin 3-O-[6-O-(malonyl)-beta-D-glucopyranoside]-7-O- [6-O-(4-O-(6-O-(p-hydroxybenzoyl)-beta-D-glucopyranosyl)-p ...

Abstract 4133: Hyaluronidase inhibitor delphinidin inhibits cancer metastasis
Cancer ResearchAbstract Cancer remains a formidable global health challenge, with metastasis being a key contributor to its lethality. Abundant high molecular weight hyaluronic acid, a major non-protein component of extracellular matrix, protects naked mole rats from cancer and reduces cancer incidence in mice.
