Discriminating roles of desmosomal cadherins: Beyond desmosomal adhesion

The desmosomal cadherins, which include desmogleins and desmocollins, are Ca(2+)-dependent adhesion molecules that cooperate to make up the adhesive core of intercellular junctions known as desmosomes.
