Identifying Key Questions and Challenges in Microchimerism Biology

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study identifies key unanswered questions about microchimerism, the presence of cells from one individual living in another. Experts highlight how these cells may affect health, pregnancy, and disease. This study outlines research priorities and challenges in detecting and studying these rare microchimeric cells, aiming to guide future discoveries

RNAi Regulator C3PO Promotes Arbovirus Infection in Insect Vectors

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
RNA interference (RNAi) is vital for eukaryotes to defend against virus infection. The C3PO complex takes part in RNAi but its role in regulating viral infection remains unclear. This work finds that insect C3PO facilitates arbovirus replication by degrading precursors of miRNAs, especially miR‐971‐3p.

XPC Deficiency Activate Cisplatin‐Mediated Autophagy in Bladder Cancer by Limiting Novel PHRF1‐Mediated Ubiquitination of the p53 Protein

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study reveals that XPC regulates autophagy signaling beyond its noncanonical DNA repair role, uncovering the XPC‐p‐ATM‐KDM4A‐PHRF1 axis as a novel mechanism for autophagy modulation under DNA damage stress. It identifies PHRF1 as a novel p53 ubiquitin ligase.

Three‐Segment Protein Labeling Using a Highly Efficient and Cysteine‐Less Split Intein Identified with Computational Prediction of Aggregation Properties

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
Tandem protein trans‐splicing (PTS) assembles a protein from three segments. Expanding this technology to individually treat cysteines in each segment, for example, for chemical labeling using thiol bioconjugation, the authors identify a second, highly efficient cysteine‐less split intein.
