Targeting Regulation of Macrophage to Treat Metabolic Disease: Role of Phytochemicals

open access: yesCell Proliferation, EarlyView.
One‐third of the world's population is affected by metabolic syndrome. Complicated pathogenesis and limited drugs cause the growing prevalence of metabolic syndrome. Macrophage‐mediated metaflammation is closely associated with the development of metabolic syndrome. The role of phytochemicals targeting macrophages in the treatment of metabolic syndrome

DGAT-1 deficiency: Congenital diarrhea and dietary treatment. [PDF]

open access: yesJPGN Rep
Abstract DGAT‐1 (Diacylglycerol Acyltransferase‐1) deficiency is an autosomal recessive disorder which causes severe impairment in lipid absorption. We report a case of an infant suffering from persistent diarrhea starting at the age of four weeks. Further investigations identified DGAT‐1 deficiency as underlying cause.

Long‐term fasting induces a remodelling of fatty acid composition in erythrocyte membranes

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Clinical Investigation, Volume 55, Issue 5, May 2025.
Abstract Introduction Long‐term fasting (LF) activates an adaptative response to switch metabolic fuels from food glucose to lipids stored in adipose tissues. The increase in free fatty acid (FFA) oxidation during fasting triggers health benefits. We questioned if the changes in lipid metabolism during LF could affect lipids in cell membranes in humans.
