Modulation of MicroRNA Processing by Dicer via Its Associated dsRNA Binding Proteins

open access: yesNon-Coding RNA, 2021
MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are small non-coding RNAs that are about 22 nucleotides in length. They regulate gene expression post-transcriptionally by guiding the effector protein Argonaute to its target mRNA in a sequence-dependent manner, causing the ...

Epigenetic Regulation in the Pathogenesis of Renal Inflammation: Insights and Therapeutic Potentials

open access: yesiNew Medicine, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Renal inflammation is a common pathological process in various kidney diseases, often initiated by factors such as toxins, ischemia, or autoimmune reactions. This inflammatory response can result in structural damage and a rapid decline in renal function.

Emerging roles of DROSHA beyond primary microRNA processing [PDF]

open access: yesRNA Biology, 2017
DROSHA is the catalytic subunit of the Microprocessor complex, which initiates microRNA (miRNA) maturation in the nucleus by recognizing and cleaving hairpin precursors embedded in primary transcripts. However, accumulating evidence suggests that not all hairpin substrates of DROSHA are associated with the generation of functional small RNAs.

Drosha enhances exon 5 splicing.

open access: yes, 2014
(A) Radiolabelled RT-PCR analysis of endogenous eIF4H splicing, and expression of Drosha, DGCR8, DICER and a loading control, GAPDH, in HEK-293T control cells or following transfection with Drosha, Dicer or TN Drosha. (B) Quantitation of exon 5 splicing.

miR‐9 Restricts Insulin Secretion by Targeting Rab34, Which Mediates Lysosomal Degradation of Proinsulin

open access: yesThe Kaohsiung Journal of Medical Sciences, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Insulin secretion is a complex, vesicular transport process. Rab34 is a key regulator of intracellular vesicle transport; however, its role in insulin secretion has not yet been reported. miRNA‐9 is vital for the development and progression of the diagnosis and treatment of type 2 diabetes. This study aimed to investigate whether miR‐9 targets

Transcriptomic resources and functional validation of RNAi in the cabbage seedpod weevil, Ceutorhynchus obstrictus

open access: yesPest Management Science, EarlyView.
Transcriptome sequencing of Ceutorhynchus obstrictus revealed RNA interference (RNAi) targets; double‐stranded RNA microinjection reduced transcript levels and increased mortality, with αCOP and Rop showing strongest lethal effects, indicating promising RNAi‐based pest control candidates.

Molecular determinants that govern scaRNA processing by Drosha/DGCR8

open access: yesBiology Open, 2020
The Cajal body (CB) is a subnuclear domain that participates in the biogenesis of many different types of ribonucleoproteins (RNPs), including small nuclear RNPs (snRNPs), small Cajal body-specific RNPs (scaRNPs) and telomerase. Most scaRNAs, the RNA component of scaRNPs, accumulate in CBs.
